Marcus Rashford claps back at Roy Keane’s critique of his goal celebration vs Spurs amid PSG transfer interest

Marcus Rashford should be the first to admit that his performance levels have dropped drastically this season. The young Englishman scored 17 goals in the Premier League last season and 31 in all competitions for Manchester United but has been unable to replicate that form in the current season, with just three goals prior to the Tottenham game on Sunday.

Rashford bagged his fourth goal of the season and celebrated with a weird gesture, which seemed like a diss to his critics, and Roy Keane didn’t appreciate it. Marcus Rashford has seemingly clapped back at the United legend with a subtle post on Instagram that confirmed he did the celebration for another reason entirely.

Marcus Rashford scored United’s second goal of the game against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, and his bizarre celebration caused Roy Keane to give him a few words of advice, as he urged him to stick to the basics of football after his drastic drop in form from last season.

“I don’t know what what that is all about,” Roy Keane said on Marcus Rashford’s goal celebration. “We need to see more; he’s shown it before; he’s got the quality. Why does he seem to be upset with everybody? He’s got to go and enjoy it; he’s playing for Man United.

“He simplified his game today. He’s obviously been told by his manager, the coaching staff that when we are in possession, in space, to start running into the space when the teams get stretched, and when he’s doing that, he’s hard to stop,” the former United captain added.

However, Marcus Rashford’s celebration apparently had nothing to do with his performance’s critics in recent times. Instead, it was about people who abused him on social media for being disloyal to Erik Ten Hag for posting a comment under Jadon Sancho’s post after the winger completed his loan move to Borussia Dortmund.

“He’s clearly referring to the abuse he’s been subjected to this week since he commented on Sancho’s post. They literally questioned his loyalty and commitment to us, and he did shut them up by scoring and assisting,” one fan clarified on social media.

Rashford responded to that post, saying, “Thank you for clarifying this matter.”

Rashford will have another chance to silence his critics when United play either Eastleigh or Newport County in the FA Cup after the winter break.

PSG reportedly eyeing to get Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford signed a new long-term contract at United last summer, committing his future to his boyhood club until 2028 to make him the club’s highest earner with a £350,000-a-week deal.

Despite this long-term commitment, PSG are reportedly back in pursuit of the England international as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who’s set to join Real Madrid in the summer.

PSG are long-term admirers of Rashford and were willing to break the bank to sign him two years ago. However, he made the decision to stay at Old Trafford, but with the club under the new ownership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who bought 25% of the club last month, United are prepared to listen to a big-money offer for their star man.
