Marlon Vera claps back at Sean O’Malley following reluctance-filled criticism from the Bantamweight champ

After Sean O’Malley’s impressive knockout win over Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292, Marlon Vera responded to Sean’s criticism. In fact Chito wasn’t the only one in the MMA community who believed the decision favored Sean due to what some call ‘Dana White privilege’.

At Boston’s TD Garden, Sugar effectively answered his critics by defeating “The Funk Master”. Now, there’s speculation about the next opponent for Sean, with several potential candidates being considered to face him next

Chito Vera fires back at Sean O’Malley

Sean’s triumph over Aljo was widely anticipated among those who were closely following his rise in the bantamweight division. Making his debut in 2018, Sugar embarked on an impressive three-fight winning streak before his encounter with Marlon Vera.

Despite a loss against Chito, Sean did a remarkable recovery with four consecutive victories, eventually earning himself a title shot. Holding a solid record of 16-1-0, the 28-year-old fighter appears to be setting his sights on a December rematch against Chito, with the aim of defending his title.

Nevertheless, Chito didn’t let Sean’s intentions go unchallenged, firing back at his desire for vengeance. The Ecuadorian fighter boldly asserted himself as the most exciting bantamweight fighter in the world and expressed his goal of securing the title from Sean in their rematch.

ā€œSugarā€ far from enthusiastic about rematch prospect

Before the title bout, O’Malley held the second spot in the bantamweight rankings. This ranking reflects Sean’s victory wasn’t simply a matter of luck; instead, it was a reflection of his genuine talent and caliber. Interestingly, Suga in the post-fight press conference has already expressed his annoyance toward his past adversary, Chito.

ā€œHeā€™s so annoying. Heā€™s not funny. Heā€™s so ugly. He dresses like an idiot. Itā€™s like, ā€˜God, do I really have to give this guy an opportunity?ā€™ But lā€™m like, ā€˜Iā€™ll probably just go out there and whoop his ass and make a lot of money.ā€ Sean said.

Given the situation, Merab Dvalishvili emerges as the most fitting contender for Sugar’s title defense fight. Yet, with tensions escalating, it’s possible that the intensifying rivalry could lead to a high-stakes December showdown between Chito and Sean.
