Marquez Valdes Scantling furious after dropped catch vs Eagles but Patrick Mahomes takes responsibility for incomplete pass

Nine months after leaving the field with teary eyes and letting the Kansas City Chiefs clinch the Super Bowl trophy, the Philadelphia Eagles could finally take sweet revenge on the Chiefs. Nonetheless, till the last moment of the game,  the Chiefs had a chance of ruling the Eagles, though a blunder by the Chiefs’ Marquez Valdes Scantling snatched the opportunity.

At last, the Chiefs had to close the night, embracing a 17-21 defeat while their receiver’s missed opportunity robbed him of happiness, though Patrick Mahomes came forward in his support.

Marquez Valdes Scantling bangs helmet after a dropped catch

With 1:50 remaining, Mahomes found a wide-open Marquez Valdes Scantling on a second-and-10 play from the Chiefs’ 49-yard line, which could have been the game-winning play. The Chiefs’ last realistic chance to win was trashed due to his failed opportunity.

The moment was frustrating for the whole Chiefs team, as well as the receiver himself. Following the drop, Marquez Valdes Scantling was seen hitting his helmet in rage as he left the field.

MVS should be upset since the receiver let go of a certain victory after Mahomes threw a 45-yard pass into each of his hands. Valdes-Scantling mishandled the ball and tripped just five yards from the end zone as the pass bounced off his fingers.

Patrick Mahomes takes the blame for an incomplete pass

After showing one of the worst performances and losing their dynasty over the Denver Broncos, Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s team regained the footing that they again lost in Week 12.

Following the upset loss, Mahomes confronted the reporters on Monday night after hugging the Eagles’ players. During the post-game press conference, the starter was questioned regarding his receiver’s missed opportunity. The starter, determined to pay wholeheartedly without being distracted by Taylor Swift’s buzz, took the whole charge on his shoulder.

The two-time MVP thrashed out that he should throw the ball a “little bit shorter” to let his receiver successfully receive the ball.

“We just didn’t come away with the ball. I could probably throw the ball a little bit shorter. He was that wide open. You just gotta continue to try and get better and better.”

The Chiefs’ play in the second half should be more concerning to the team’s supporters than the receiver’s incomplete field goal. The Mahomes squad failed to score a point in the second half of the Eagles vs. Chiefs game for the third straight game. It’s the NFL’s worst 5.3 points per game in the second half, according to SI.com.
