Injuries are becoming a serious problem in the sport of soccer, with so many stars getting injured in recent months. Manchester United in particular are having a bit of an injury crisis, with so many players out for months.
One of them is new signing Mason Mount, who has again faced an issue. The midfielder was supposed to be the new face of the midfielder after a $60 million move from Chelsea this summer, but instead it has been going bad so far.
Mason Mount injury update
Manchester United have already seen midfielders Casemiro and Christian Eriksen suffer injuries in a crucial part of the season. Mason Mount, who had returned from an earlier injury, has again been announced to be out through a calf injury. It happened in training as Manchester United faced Everton tonight. With a hugely growing injury list, manager Erik ten Hag will be left thinking about his next squad for the Everton game.
The injury is said to be not too serious, with the medical team still checking the full extent of the injury. However, it is expected that the 24-year-old will be out for around three weeks to a full month. This presents a serious challenge to United, who have crucial matches in the Premier League and Champions League. He will also miss a Chelsea reunion in December.
He also previously missed a month’s worth of action between the end of August to September. He had suffered an unknown injury, which kept him out of action for a while and even affected his future performances. It is unknown if the calf injury is the result of a recurring issue, with the midfielder also having a history of injuries during his last season for Chelsea.
Mason Mount unable to perform for Manchester United
Since his expensive move to United, Mason Mount was expected to lead a new midfield rebuild. But so far, injuries and bad performances have led to that not happening. The former Chelsea midfielder was one of the best midfielders in England from a young age and was expected to start things well.
While the injuries have not allowed him to have a clear presence on the squad, he has also not performed well. He has had no shots on target, and his passing stats are also not good. He has no goals and only has one assist in the 12 appearances he has made this season, with five of them as a substitute.
Mount has also not found a clear role in the team, with Ten Hag also struggling to find his best position. So far, Mount has not managed to link up well with his teammates and has been forced to drop deep, which is not one of his best strengths.
Mason Mount will be out for some time, but he will need to soon turn around his career for the Red Devils; otherwise, he will join a long list of failed players at Old Trafford.
