Max Verstappen has been the embodiment of performance in recent years, securing three world championships in a row with Red Bull. This hasn’t been an easy task, however, as he has had to overcome many challenges, some even from his own team.
Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez has claimed that every Red Bull car is specially crafted to align with Verstappen’s style, something that isn’t very suitable for himself. The Dutch driver, however, has categorically denied such claims in a recent interview.
Max Verstappen breaks silence on Red Bull car favoritism accusations
Max Verstappen has recently cleared out the misconception of rumours suggesting that Red Bull cars are designed to perfectly fit with Verstappen’s style of driving. Within his dominant years, although the Dutch driver has single-handedly clinched several victories for his team in front of spectators, many of his teammates claim that he built the cars to his advantage only.
Recently, Verstappen’s current partner, Sergio Perez, has also suggested that the team is unfair due to adapting the car’s style according to the Dutch driver’s preference. He said, “The car is set for Max because he drives with all the grip at the front, and Checo has done it all the time with the grip at the back.”
However, the three-time world champion was ridiculed after hearing such rumours, to which he shortly responded by saying, “When people ask you, ‘What is your driving style?’, I can’t tell you because it’s about being able to adapt to certain situations or what the car likes as well. What do I want? I want more grip. There’s a lot that you want, and some things are not realistic. So, I just adapt to the car that I get given,” completely denying the ongoing allegations of his team partners.
Who will Max Verstappen pair with in 2024?
Although Red Bull has been confirming Sergio Perez’s stay in the team until the conclusion of the 2024 season, many reports suggest that the team is considering Daniel Ricciardo to replace the Mexican ahead of this season.
After Ricciardo’s comeback, the Australian has delivered consistent performances, which presumably might have raised the team’s interest in hiring the 34-year-old once again after his major surgery. When asked if the team has any intention of hiring the Australian in the potential 2025 season, Christian Horner replied, “Who knows? At Red Bull Racing, we want the best two drivers that are available, heightening the curiosity of the spectators even further.
