Max Verstappen has taken the reigns of domination from Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton since the controversial 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Red Bull prodigy is currently in the midst of a period of dominance in Formula 1 that is reminiscent of Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull days. He has won 10 out of 12 races of the 2023 season, and he is leading the championship by a comfortable margin of 125 points.
Max is on the verge of shattering Seb’s mark of nine straight victories this season, having already surpassed his record for the most wins in a single season. F1 buzzes around the winner as the fans get a break down of the Red Bull Champion’s helmet in the recent release.
Max Verstappen reveals new helmet for Dutch GP
Last season, Max Verstappen celebrated a grand victory in front of an enthusiastic Dutch crowd with a tribute to his father Jos, donning his former helmet design.
For this season, the Dutchman has unveiled a freshly-refined helmet design, inspired by the iconic colors of the Dutch flag, ahead of his highly anticipated home race at the end of August. He is returning to the same design he used for last year’s race, but with a modernized twist. Verstappen has embraced tradition by introducing a revamped version of the design, which he revealed on social media.
The Dutchman blended continuity with imagination in an engaging video shared across social media platforms. The Dutchman personally guided his fans through the helmet design he will wear for this special occasion. Against a backdrop of enthusiastic orange-clad spectators at Zandvoort, Verstappen’s one-off design is sure to make a statement on the track.
Dutch ace to potentially tie Sebastian Vettel’s epic record
Sebastian Vettel’s dominance in his Red Bull days was one of the most impressive in Formula 1 history. He won four consecutive world championships from 2010 to 2013, the first of which made him the youngest world champion of all time at the age of 23 years and 144 days. In 2013, he set the record for the most consecutive race wins with nine.
Max Verstappen is hoping to break the aforementioned nine-win record at his home Grand Prix. This season, Verstappen has been absolutely dominant, shattering records that were once thought to be unapproachable, particularly the most consecutive wins by a constructor, held by McLaren with Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost.
Given the current state of the sport, it is highly likely that the two-time world champion in his RB 19 car will make his ninth win a reality. Even Mark Webber, a former F1 driver and Vettel’s teammate from the time he won nine races consecutively, believes that Max Verstappen and his unbeatable RB 19 have a good shot at achieving success at the Dutch Grand Prix and matching Sebastian Vettel’s impressive record.
