Max Verstappen has undoubtedly provided us with an entertaining show during the races since his debut in the Formula One industry. His exceptional excellence and potential are well-known to everyone in the industry.
Along with many ex-drivers and former teammates, Max’s father is also extremely proud of his achievements. He claimed that he knew his son was going to reach great heights one day based on his karting skills when he was younger.
Jos Verstappen weighs in Max’s early dominance in karting
The father-and-son duo had a significant impact on Verstappen’s life. Jos Verstappen, a former Formula One driver, is very satisfied with his son’s achievements as a three-time World Champion. His son now joins the ranks of other legendary drivers who have won the title three times in the history of Formula One.
The Dutchman was able to clinch his third title at a very young age, renewing history once again since Sebastian Vettel won his third crown back in 2012.
At the post-sprint celebration, Sky Sports F1’s Craig Slater spoke to Jos about his son’s recent achievement and whether he always knew Max would be this good.
“Of course, we appreciate it, but it’s also the way he did it,” he said. “He was so dominant this year and he delivered well. We are very proud of that. Well, I knew [about his talents] a long time, when he was in go-karts. I think we made the right decisions at the beginning of his career and I must say, now it’s up to him what he does. I’m just very happy [with] how he all does it and how strong he is and the way he works for that.”
Verstappen’s success spurs parallels with the Senna era
Helmut Marko, an advisor of Red Bull hails Verstappen’s recent success, describing him as a “beast” as the Dutch driver has endless skills and inhumane potential for driving.
He emphasized more on Verstappen’s personal and professional growth while speaking to Krone Zeitung.
Marko exclaimed “As a person, he has made great progress,”
“He celebrated his 26th birthday just last Saturday and has a strong personality.
“As a driver, he constantly surprises us with qualifying laps that you wouldn’t think possible. There are no limits to expectations, and the future looks bright.”
The Austrian then compared Verstappen to Senna by saying “Senna’s team-mates also all struggled, Gerhard Berger can sing a song about that,”
“But he sought challenges. Max is a different story in his complexity.”
“I can only think of older gentlemen like Alonso or Hamilton who could compete alongside him.”
