Max Verstappen’s Red Bull future now clearer with one Helmut Marko decision

In the early stages of the 2024 campaign, Red Bull finds itself in an unsettling position. They are facing crucial hurdles along with the concerns of losing its key members amid a storm of controversies involving Christian Horner, the team principal.

Adding to the chaos, Helmut Marko, sensing vulnerability in his own role, has taken over the media to be vocal about the potential risk in his job.

Helmut Marko reportedly reveals his Red Bull future

Christian Horner was involved in a huge controversy since early February, which was initiated when his female colleague had raised serious allegations against him, compelling the parenting company of the F1 team to take serious actions against it.

As a result, Red Bull GmbH decided to hire a dedicated barrister to conduct a thorough investigation to judge the situation fairly for both parties. After nearly two weeks of investigation, Christian Horner’s innocence had come to light, clearing all the alleged wrongdoings.

However, within 24 hours of the verdict, an official document, which contained all of the confidential images and files regarding the case were leaked and sent to 100 different Formula One individuals in the industry via email.

Soon after the unfortunate incident, Red Bull decided to conduct an investigation to ultimately find out the culprit behind the actions, with their primary suspect being Helmut Marko.

The team advisor Helmut Marko had sensed the inquiry measures and has recently expressed uncertainty regarding his job and attendance for the next Grand Prix event. He has also spoken about his potential suspension from the F1 team by saying, “How can I put it, it’s difficult to judge, but let’s put it this way: in the end, it’s up to me to decide what to do.”

Helmut Marko’s relationship with Max Verstappen

Red Bull’s main driver Max Verstappen has long shared a unique bond with Helmut Marko, who has closely observed the Dutch sensation’s growth as a driver. The team principal had acknowledged the talent of Verstappen at just 16 years old and thus, had contacted his father to express his interest in hiring the young talent as the main driver of the F1 team.

The 26-year-old has also claimed that Marko was an extremely important individual in his life, indicating that the team might also face his departure if the team advisor were suspended from his role. He said “It is very important that he stays. I feel like if such an important pillar falls away, and I have told the team this, that it is not good for my situation as well.”
