Max Verstappen just surpassed his own record of 15 wins in a season, which he set in 2022, for the maximum number of wins in a season. He now has 16 wins in a season with 2 races remaining and there are huge speculations that he may even win the later races, ending up with a lot for a single season. There are many competitors in this latter part of the season, with Mercedes and McLaren trying to catch up to the rocketship of RB19.
In the world of Formula 1, the drivers are always competitive with each other when it comes to racing and it is hard for fellow drivers to praise the other drivers and imply that they may do better and dominate the season.
Hamilton bets on Verstappen’s dominance
Lewis Hamilton is considered the arch rival of Max Verstappen when it comes to F1 racing and he criticizes Max Verstappen and Red Bull a lot regarding their recent dominance. However, even after stating his confidence in the Mercedes W14 recently, and fighting Max Verstappen strenuously for the lead in the Mexico GP, Lewis still doesn’t think Max Verstappen will lose the upcoming races.
He has put forth the claim that Max will be going away with 18-19 wins this season.
“Hopefully, these next couple of races will be close,” said Hamilton to the media. “But I’d probably put money on it that Max will get to 18, 19, with that car.”
Lewis Hamilton’s claims come off really strong against the competition Red Bull has been facing for the past few weekends. Oscar Piastri managed to snatch away a win from Red Bull with his improved McLaren and that solidified the fact that even Red Bull can be beaten.
Verstappen gets his 18th podium finish in Mexican GP
Max Verstappen had his moment in the sun during the Mexico GP as he fought off Lewis Hamilton for the win. He was able to secure another podium, increasing his tally to 18 this season. The Mexican GP was considered unsafe for Max following the threats he has received but in spite of the unsafe environment of the Grand Prix, Max Verstappen was able to clench his 16th win.
Max Verstappen is having one of the best seasons of his career, as he was able to establish Red Bull dominance and use the pace of his car to maximum advantage. He has been breaking records throughout the season and he doesn’t intend on stopping anytime soon.
