Michael Bisping foresees Alex Pereira failing in his commitment to Glover Texeira at UFC 295

Alex Pereira has the chance to become the only two-division champion in multiple sports at Madison Square Garden. Having already won the middleweight and light heavyweight titles and the UFC middleweight title, only the UFC light heavyweight title is missing in his trophy cabinet.

However, former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping does not think Pereira will be successful at UFC 295. Bisping, now a commentator with the UFC, shared his views on his YouTube channel.

Bisping predicts Alex Pereira failure at UFC 295

In the main event of UFC 295, Jiri Prochazka takes on Alex Pereira in what would be a sensational fight. The fight even has the potential to be the fight of the year. In his latest fight, he had a back-and-forth war with Glover Teixeira at UFC 275. Before that, he finished two-time title challenger Dominick Reyes with a spinning elbow.

On the other hand, the UFC 295 fight will be Alex Pereira’s seventh fight with the promotion. A victory would make him a double champion in just seven fights. Additionally, he would also have defeated four champions in his previous four fights. He has already defeated Israel Adesanya, Sean Strickland, and Jan Blachowicz, who are or were UFC champions.

Michael Bisping in his recent YouTube post, provided his pick for the fight. Bisping said, “Alex Pereira is a great kickboxer, and in his last fight against Jan Blachowicz, he showed improvements in grappling. If he was taken down, he was able to get back to his feet. Jiri Prochaza, on the other hand, has been fighting for a long time, has a tremendous amount of fights, and he’s well-rounded. He’s beaten some great grapplers along the way.”

However, he believes that Prochazka has more ways to win. “The fight could go either way. Jiri Perhaska has more ways to win. He lives by the code of Bushido, the code of the warrior, and he’s coming back after an injury with a hunger to reclaim what he feels is rightfully his.”, Bisping said. Pereira was recently inducted into the Glory Kick Boxing Hall of Fame and a win at UFC 295 would without a shadow of a doubt make him a sure shot in the UFC Hall of Fame.

History between Glover Texeira, Alex Pereira

“I’m not going into this fight with any desire for revenge. I don’t want to play this game. I want to go into it with a very positive mindset. I’m going to fight without thinking that they’ve already fought. Being able to give the belt back to Glover and put it back in the gym means a lot to me.” Alex Pereira said this in his recent interview with CBS Sports.

Glover Teixeira is not only a close friend but also a mentor to Alex Pereira. Jiri Prochazka won the light heavyweight title at UFC 275 by defeating Teixeira. Many people have suggested a storyline for the fight, where Pereira seeks revenge on behalf of his friend and mentor. However, Pereira’s lack of attention to such matters is evident in his interview with CBS Sports.

Pereira was kind enough to give his mentor a Harley Davidson motorcycle as a token of his appreciation. Later on, Teixeira made the intriguing error of believing that Pereira had given him a Lamborghini as a gift, when in fact Pereira was simply showing Teixeira his brand new Lamborghini. Furthermore, following his defeat against Jamahal Hill in the UFC 283 title fight, Teixeira announced his retirement from the sport. In addition, he stated that he intends to focus on his “Poatan” career.

Prochazka vs Pereira was not the original main event for UFC 295; it was the co-main event. The main event was Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight championship. However, Jones injured his pectoral muscle and needed surgery and a minimum eight-month recovery period. That paved the way for the co-main event to be elevated to the main event spot.
