The “Dynasty Collection” features Jordan sneakers that the NBA legend Michael Jordan wore during his finals-clinching games. The auction, conducted by Sotheby’s New York, garnered international attention after being promoted worldwide.
“To have anything from one of Jordan’s championship-clinching games is a goal for every sports artifact collector. To have something from all six of them is unheard of, so we are thrilled with the result which is a testament to the greatest to ever play the game,” said Sotheby’s head of modern collectibles.
The complete “Dynasty Collection” of sneakers, sold for a staggering $8 million to an anonymous buyer who placed a bid on this prestigious collection. Despite its high price, the “Dynasty Collection” remains the second most valuable Michael Jordan item ever auctioned, with the top spot held by the 1998 NBA Finals Game 1 jersey.

The Jersey that the NBA Legend Michael Jordan wore in his 1998 NBA finals game 1 is an item that is every sports artifact collector’s dream. The Jersey holds the title of the most valuable Jersey to be sold. It fetched a hefty $10.1 million for the Sotheby’s in September of 2022 and the only item to come close to it was the recently auctioned World Cup Jersey set of Lionel Messi.
Recently a set of six shirts worn by the Argentinian soccer magician and Inter Miami star Lionel Messi in the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar was auctioned on Thursday. The set fetched a whopping $7.8 million and became the highest-ever Messi item to be sold.
However, it was unable to break the record set by the Michael Jordan item. The Messi set became the third highest-ever sold jersey while the Jordans 1998 Finals jersey holds the first spot and Diego Maradona’s “Hand of God” jersey comes in second.
