Minority stakeholder Magic Johnson expresses excitement after seeing Commanders end Ravens’ 24-game preseason streak

The Washington Commanders had been an infamous franchise in the NFL due to their owner Daniel Snyder’s multiple ignoble acts. However, the franchise has been a hot topic in the last few months as NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson along with a group led by billionaire Josh Harris successfully took over its ownership from Snyder.

The Commanders’ squad was sensing a new era under new owners, but little did they know they were going to beat one of the leading NFL teams. Washington gave a huge blow to the Baltimore Ravens in their last preseason game and Johnson could barely manage to burst into excitement.

Magic Johnson reacts to Commanders ending Ravens’ 24-game preseason streak

The Ravens extended their 24-game preseason winning streak in the previous week with a 20-19 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, albeit they could not enjoy the glory for a long time. Their longest preseason winning streak came to an end after going down to the Commanders 28-29 in the final seconds of Monday night’s game.

A preseason victory might not be a great subject to go head over heels for, but the Commanders’ new owner Johnson couldn’t halt back from sharing his happiness following the win and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share his excitement.

“I know it’s only preseason but the @Commanders victory over the Ravens to end their NFL preseason win streak was a lot of fun for Commanders fans!”

The Ravens were enjoying a lead of 28-20 with most of the fourth quarter to play, albeit the Commanders’ Jake Fromm rallied the franchise by leading a touchdown drive with approximately four minutes to play, and Joey Slye’s phenomenal 49-yard field goal in the last ten seconds of the match ensured an incredible win for Washington.

What percentage of the Commanders’ stakes does Magic Johnson hold?

According to a report from Biz Journals, Johnson holds a 4% stake in the Commanders and he is the third-largest shareholder of the franchise after Josh Harris and Mitchell Rales. The former NBA star along with Mellody Hobson, and Condoleezza Rice are a few black co-owner of an NFL team, albeit he is the first African-American owner of the team since its foundation in 1932.
