Mohamed Salah escorted by military amidst pitch invasion chaos in Egypt’s World Cup Qualifier win

Soccer fans often get hyper during a match, especially when they lose. They often stage pitch invasions, which often mar the game itself. And there have been incidents where they tried to hurt the players, such as when Espanyol players tried to hurt Barcelona players last season.

Liverpool and Egypt star Mohamed Salah is often the subject of much love and is respected and loved by everyone. And so, no one ever thought that he would be the victim of an attack on the pitch. But it seems just that has happened.

Mohamed Salah escorted off pitch amid fan invasion

Mohamed Salah is currently on international duty with Egypt for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The winger, who is linked to a move away from Liverpool, had scored four goals in a 6-0 dominating win against Djibouti in the first match. Yesterday, he again captained the side as they played to a 2-0 win over Sierra Leone.

But the match has gone viral for the wrong reasons, when a group of fans decided to invade the pitch during yesterday’s match in the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium which is in Liberia. The Sierra Leone fans were visibly upset after they were reduced to 9 men and conceded the second goal. This finally led some of them to lash out their frustrations on the opposition players.

The pitch invasion was horrible, with some punches being thrown out by security on the fans. The footage shows Salah and his teammates being sought out by the pitch invaders, who avoid them while stewards and military officials stabilize the situation. No one was seriously hurt in the incident, though security measures were taken to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

After the game ended, military officials and security guards entered the pitch, and escorted Salah and other players off the pitch. It is still unknown why the fans decided to target Salah on the pitch. Though some pictures appeared to show some fans wanting to touch the player’s feet.

Trezeguet’s double maintains Egypt’s perfect start in qualifiers

Egypt had a easy win over Sierra Leone, winning it by two goals without reply. Aston Villa midfielder Trezeguet was on point twice, scoring a goal in each half. Both were assisted by Mohamed Salah himself who failed to find the back of the net.

Sierra Leone further helped Egypt maintain their lead, as two of their players were sent off, leaving them with nine men on the field. Egypt simply played out the rest of the game to secure the victory.

The win further strengthens the Egyptians’ lead at the top of their qualifying table. They are in the first position in Group A in the African qualifiers with six point. They also won their first match against Djibouti 6-0, to maintain a perfect start to their qualifying run.

Mohamed Salah will now return to club duty for Liverpool, where he has to be in a big game for them against Manchester City this Saturday. Hopefully, he won’t have to face a security breach in England.
