It can be said that Russell Westbrook may be past his prime in the NBA. The point guard’s performance is no where near to the days when he was named Mr. Triple Double. However he has proven his worth as a valuable PG since his arrival at the Los Angeles Clippers.
Russell has stepped up and performed well with the team helping them to make the playoffs last season. He also had an applaudable performance during the playoffs series against the Phoenix Suns. Now fellow teammate Kawhi Leonard had some words of praise for Mr. Triple Double.
Kawhi Leonard hails Westbrook’s return
Westbrook’s return this summer to the Los Angeles Clippers was very well appreciated by his Clippers teammate Kawhi Leonard.
He lauded Westbrook saying, “I mean, it is very important having him back. It just gives us continuity from a point guard standpoint. We just got a Hall of Fame point guard that’s been through it. I think that is going to be big for us coming into the year.”
Kawhi Leonard has been in recovery from his injury which made him miss most of the last season. The fans are anticipating a return of him and Paul George who also is in the recovery process and are very excited to see how the new Clippers team will perform. The trio of Leonard, George and Russell Westbrook sure looks intimidating and can even take the Clippers to the championship this time.
Clippers secure Russell Westbrook’s service with $8 million contract
Russell Westbrook was one of the most expensive players to get once upon a time but his recent runs in the NBA for the past 3-4 seasons has greatly depreciated his value. His journey in the Los Angeles Lakers was not particularly a good one where he was unable to make an impact even after playing with the likes of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
He started to be criticised a lot and even got tagged with a nickname, “Westbrick”. As a result he was traded to the Utah Jazz by the Lakers and then was waived soon after by them.
It was afterwards that he signed an $8 million with the Los Angeles Clippers who were very much happy to acquire the services of Mr. Triple Double.
