Months after costly Aaron Rodgers mistake, Jets reportedly invite offers for Dalvin Cook despite recent signing

The New York Jets team suffered a significant setback regarding their offensive lineup, hence bringing Nathaniel Hackett to guide the team. In an attempt to bolster their roster, the NY team added the former Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers and former Minnesota Vikings Dalvin Cook this season to have a complete set of a tough offensive line.

Unfortunately, none of their choices assisted them to have a good season. As the Jets have already suffered many setbacks for these costly mistakes, they set up their mind not to prolong their mistakes and came out with consecutive shocking decision.

New York Jets decline insurance on Aaron Rodgers

In spite of having wished to add Rodgers as their offensive hero, Gang Green took long to make the deal done with the Packers because of Aaron’s aging factor and possible injury issues. Later, giving rest to all their thoughts, they added the former Packer’s starter, giving a fully guaranteed two-year, $75 million deal and offering multiple insurance policies.

The quarterback came and urged them to dream of their next Super Bowl this season, albeit Aaron himself had been ruled out from the team in the first quarter of the Jets season-opening game. The injury of the 39-year-old carried a nightmare for the teams’ quarterback room, leaving it on the shoulders of inexperienced Zach Wilson.

Apart from that, his injury may have cost his team a significant amount of money. Hence, the NY team decided not to bring more financial trouble for them and chose not to take out an insurance policy on the four-time MVP’s deal, per Sportico.

Daniel Libit and Eben Novy-Williams of Sportico reported that if Gang Green accepts Rodgers’ insurance policies that they offered in the offseason, it may “potentially cost the team $20 million-plus in insurance proceeds”. Furthermore, the Jets’ superstar’s contract premiums fell between $1 million to $4 million, with the “upper-end options covering around 60% of the $37 million (or $22 million) that Rodgers was guaranteed this year.”

Nevertheless, amid all the heated situations, A-rod remained loyal to the team he intended to play, hence rushed to the stadium to support them, soon after getting clearance from his doctors. Meanwhile, the Jets offensive leader revealed his hope and expectations to don the Jets’ Jersey again next season and help them to fulfill their Super Bowl’s dream.

Jets fielding offers for Dalvin Cook

After providing Rodgers with a costly deal, the Jets agreed with free-agent running back Dalvin Cook on a one-year deal worth up to $8.6 million, proving how infuriated they were to bolster their roster with a bunch of offensive heroes.

Back in June, the Minnesota Vikings were forced to make multiple roster cuts because of the salary cap, leading break Knot with their six-season vet running back. Without delaying much, the NY team soon grasped the opportunity to add him as Rogers’ supporting hand.

Like Aaron Rodgers, Cook’s prolific career with the Vikings mainly initiated them to take the decision as he has made the Pro Bowl each season from 2019 to 2022. Unfortunately, this move also did not bring good luck for the Jets as the former Vikings player has been really bad for Hackett’s team so far in 2023. After five games of the season, Cook compiled only 97 yards with no touchdowns and eight receptions.

The Jets are apparently pissed off with his performances already and let him as a subject of potential trade candidate. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini has recently made public that Gang Green is open to trading away Cook.
