The AFC North has been more competitive in the 2023 NFL season than most of the other divisions. The Cincinnati Bengals are sitting at the last spot of the division with five wins while the Cleveland Browns are a spot ahead of Cincy with a 6-3 mark.
The Baltimore Ravens, led by their well-paid QB Lamar Jackson, is the leader in the highly competitive division. However, the Browns managed to give their divisional leader a painful loss in Week 10, and the team’s defensive end Myles Garrett gushed about his quarterback Deshaun Watson following the 33-31 win.
Myles Garrett lauds Deshaun Watson
In the Browns 2-point win over the Ravens, Watson threw a pick-six to safety Kyle Hamilton on the opening series before completing 6 of 20 passes in the first half. However, in the second half, he successfully completed all three of his passes for 30 yards while rushing 16 yards for a first down.
The Browns coach Kevin Stefanski labelled the signal-caller as a “warrior” following the contest. Garrett too didn’t shy away from heaping praise on his dual-threat as he said he knew what the vet is capable of doing on the field.
The minority owner and ambassador for the Cavs labeled Watson as a “special” player and said he expected the QB would continue the form in the upcoming games as well.
“Guy’s a dog, and we’ve known that for a long time now. I’m trying to tell y’all, when he hits his stride, he’s going to be back to his previous ways. I think he’s going to continue to carry that momentum throughout the season,” he said per USA Today.
Watson went 6-of-20 for 79 yards along with an interception for a quarterback rating of 22.7. His interception returned for a touchdown on the Baltimore Ravens’ second play of the contest by safety Kyle Hamilton.
Myles Garrett etched his name in NFL history books
Garrett entered the Browns vs Ravens clash with 9.5 sacks. He once again proved his caliber by smashing the Ravens’ dual-threat Lamar Jackson as he delivered back-to-back sacks on the quarterback. The incredible performance pushed him over the double-digit mark this season, and he is now the seventh player in the league to score 10 sacks in a single season.
The other six players with the feat of having double-digit sacks in six consecutive seasons of the league are Reggie White, DeMarcus Ware, John Randle, Lawrence Taylor, Jared Allen, and Bruce Smith.
In Sunday’s win over the divisional rival, Myles Garrett recorded four forced fumbles along with a fumble recovery, two passes defended as well as 18 QB hits and eight tackles for loss. His incredible performance also served as a reason behind the Browns’ bounce-back performance.
