The Sacramento Kings and the LA Lakers met in their game 3 of the 2023-24 season. The highly anticipated matchup was supposed to be LeBron James’ show as he marked his 20th anniversary in the NBA, but the game was all about De’Aaron Fox who stole the show from LeBron with his beautiful performances throughout the game.
However, the Kings will have some concerns ahead of the next game, with some injury reports surrounding De’ Aaron Fox amid a shocking victory over the Lakers.
De’Aaron Fox suffers ankle injury
The Sacramento Kings’ star point guard, De’Aaron Fox, suffered a serious ankle injury during a recent game against the Los Angeles Lakers. He sustained the injury when he was trying a layup in the fourth quarter of the game. This got the attention of the commentators and the fans that were watching. Fox briefly left the game to head to the locker room for evaluation but displayed remarkable resilience by returning shortly.
Soon after, Fox made a comeback to the game and scored 13 points in a quarter to help force overtime. Even when he joined the game, he was not able to play much again during the overtime because of the injury sustained. He was then assisted back into the locker room.
Fox returning to the game had a positive effect on the game but his playing for the next game is still under probability. However, Coach Mike Brown didn’t provide a detailed injury update after the game, leaving uncertainty about Fox’s condition.
There is the possibility that the ankle will swell overnight. So, if he is ruled out, Domantas Sabonis and Harrison Barnes might play a bigger offensive role. And players like Davion Mitchell and Malik Monk might see more playing time.
Kings beat Lakers
The 20th anniversary of LeBron James’ NBA debut was ruined last night as the Kings defeated the Lakers 132-127 in overtime. It was both an exciting and competitive NBA game. De’Aaron Fox made a positive impact on the game when he returned after having an ankle injury in the fourth quarter. He led the Kings with 37 points and eight assists.
He also averaged 8 points in the last minutes of regulation. Another player who contributed to the King’s win was Domantas Sabonis who scored a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds before fouling out. Malik Monk also played a pivotal role, securing 22 points and making 11 of them in the overtime period. Monk also set up Kevin Huerter for a crucial 3-pointer with just 32 seconds left in the extra period.
LeBron James scored 27 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and dished out 8 assists in just 39 minutes for the Lakers. Sadly, his contribution was unable to propel the Lakers to a win against the Kings, as De’Aaron Fox and his teammates ruined LeBron James’ 20th NBA anniversary.
