Today’s latest NBA trade news focuses on the trade made by the Memphis Grizzlies. Grizzlies star Steven Adams was traded to the Houston Rockets for Victor Oladipo. Along with that Adam’s teammate Jaren Jackson Jr. had plenty to say about him.
Steven has not been an active part of the Grizzlies squad and with their star player, Ja Morant sidelined with a season-ending injury Memphis needed to make a move to get them back on good footing this season.
Grizzlies trade Steven Adams for Victor Oladipo and picks
The Memphis Grizzlies have traded their 30-year-old center to the Houston Rockets in exchange for the Rockets guard Victor Oladipo. The news was revealed by ESPN’s senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski. He stated that the Grizzlies received Victor (Oladipo) and three future draft-round picks for Steven Adams.
The Grizzlies received two second-round picks in the 2024 draft and one pick for the 2025 draft. However, Steven Adams hasn’t played in over a full calendar year because of the recurring knee problems. He was expected to be available this season for the Grizzlies but underwent surgery that sidelined him for the entire season.
A video of him arriving at Houston was posted online in which he was seen throwing a few dance moves. Steve Adams won’t be playing for the Rockets this season but it looks like they are saving him for the future and will utilize his strong rim presence to strengthen their interior next season.
Jaren Jackson Jr recalls Steven Adams’ career under Grizzlies
Grizzles player Jaren Jackson Jr. opened up in a post-game interview after the Grizzlies lost to the Cavs. He expressed his thoughts about his teammate Steve Adams with whom he played for two seasons.
Jaren had a lot of praise for Adam, as he reportedly said, “You can not just know how to do it. His passing is crazy. In practice, we got to see a lot more of crazy Steve-O passes and sometimes you saw it in the game.”
Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins did not say anything about the trade of Adams as it was yet to be made official by the franchise. Jaren praised Steven and credited him for elevating his game and allowing him to be more offensive just by being on the court.
He reportedly said, “He is just a physical specimen… everybody is focused on him. Last year everyone was focused on him a lot, so it allowed me to catch people off guard. He helped me in a lot of ways. Off the court, everybody loved him.”
