Originally estimated at $450 million when approved in 2019, the project saw an additional $50 million investment due to the unforeseen challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, per CBS Sports.
Among the highlights of the renovation plans are enhanced food service options, a state-of-the-art entry system featuring escalators and widened concourses, field-level seating, standing room-only platforms, and modern interior lighting. The renovation efforts have been meticulously planned, with the eastern side of the stadium already completed last summer. Now, attention has turned to enhancing the western side of the iconic venue, with progress steadily marching forward.
For Saints owner Gayle Benson, these upgrades were a crucial factor in securing New Orleans’ bid to host Super Bowl LIX. Despite initial setbacks, including a scheduling conflict with the city’s Mardi Gras parade in 2024, the renovations align perfectly with the milestone occasion of the stadium’s 50th birthday.

With the new renovation, at least 125,000 visitors can be expected at the 83,000 seater for the 2025 Super Bowl LIX on, according to Axios. Originally named after the luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz in 2011, the stadium experienced a change in naming rights in July 2021.
