It is not uncommon to see the offspring of one soccer superstar admire another player rather than their own parents. It is a known fact that Cristiano Ronaldo’s son watches videos of Lionel Messi. David Beckham’s sons prefer to watch Argentina rather than England because of Messi.
Kieran Trippier is also now facing the same thing, as his son prefers another star instead of him, someone who he will be facing tomorrow. Instead of supporting him tomorrow, Trippier will see his son support his opponent instead.
Kieran Trippier talks about his son’s obsession with Mbappe
Kieran Trippier will face Paris Saint-Germain tomorrow as the UCL returns to Newcastle’s home ground after many years. He will be worried as he has to face one of the world’s most dangerous forwards, Kylian Mbappe. However, Mbappe is also connected in another way to Trippier.
Trippier’s son Jacob is a big fan of the French superstar, and this has put his father under more pressure. In the pre-game press conference, Trippier said, regarding his son’s obsession with Mbappe, “He’s obsessed with him, always watching his clips on YouTube.”
In fact, his son Jacob wants to walk out of the tunnel with the World Cup top scorer, instead of his own father. Trippier said, “I wasn’t really happy with that. I said to him, ‘If you get to walk out with Mbappe, you don’t look at me in the tunnel’.”
While the 33-year-old defender probably said the words in jest, he may be a bit pissed that his son will probably support his opponent. Mbappe has already established himself as a world class player, having won the World Cup in 2018 and multiple club trophies. There is no doubt that Mbappe will one day become one of the world’s most elite players.
Newcastle face PSG in UCL
This is Newcastle’s first season in the UCL after last playing in the 2003-04 edition. The English team have built a great team, with Kieran Trippier as their captain. They have acquired top players like Bruno Guimarães, Sandro Tonali, Sven Botman, and Aleksander Isak in recent years.
Newcastle already started their UCL campaign against AC Milan, which was a 0-0 draw. The match against PSG will be a tough one, as the UCL will return to Saint James’ Park for the first time since 2004.
PSG on the other hand have already won their first game 2-0 against Dortmund. Being one of the top teams in the world, it is expected the French team could gain an easy victory. But Newcastle have the home ground advantage, and have proved themselves worthy of great victories. Currently, they are on a five game unbeaten streak and even crushed Sheffield United 8-0.
The match will take place tonight, and Kieran Trippier will hope he manages to get the better of his son’s favorite superstar.
