Bayern Munich may not be in crisis yet, but they’re on the verge of losing their season altogether. The Bavarians started the season brightly, thanks to Harry Kane’s brilliance, who matched last season’s top scorer numbers in less than 15 games, breaking record after record for his new club.
However, the narrative has changed, and the goals have dried up a little, leaving Bayern Munich team in chaos. While the club may have publicly backed Tuchel to remain till the end of the season, they’re reportedly working on identifying some replacements, and these are some of the names on their list.
Who are the potential candidates for Bayern Munich managerial job?
Thomas Tuchel revealed he had the backing of the club in the wake of another 3-2 loss to Bochum on Sunday. The club’s new CEO also admitted Tuchel would remain at the club despite the threat of being knocked out of the Champions League by Lazio and missing out on the German title to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen altogether.

Reports have already linked several big names to the Bayern Munich job, with names like Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, Zinedine Zidane, Hansi Flick, and Xabi Alonso popping up on the club’s list of ideal replacements for Thomas Tuchel, who lifted the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea less than three years ago.

While Flick may have a poor record with the German national team, he remains one of the most successful managers for Bayern Munich. The German led the club to a historic treble in 2020 when they dominated the world, picking up every possible trophy on the way and outscoring other teams. He had the highest win percentage in the entire world at the time.
🔴 Been told again: A comeback of Hansi #Flick at FC Bayern is not a hot topic at the moment. For both, Flick and Bayern!

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is another name on the list of replacements for Tuchel at Bayern. However, the Norwegian m has Manchester United as the only major team he’s managed in his entire career, and despite starting brightly, things didn’t quite end well for him at the club.

It’s unclear whether Zinedine Zidane is ready to come out of his long break from football to manage a team like Bayern Munich after saying no to the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United, and PSG.

What is Thomas Tuchel’s record as Bayern manager?
Tuchel replaced Julian Nagelsmann at Bayern Munich in March 2023 after the former RB Leipzig manager had endured a tough season with the club. Tuchel came in and led the club to the league title on the final day, thanks to his former club, Borussia Dortmund, slipping to a 2-2 draw.
While Tuchel’s record at the club would have meant the stability of a job in another league, it seems not to be enough at Bayern Munich, who are not at risk of losing it all this season. In the 23/24 season, Tuchel has led the club to 32 games in all competitions with 22 wins, three draws, and seven defeats.

They’ve also scored 78 goals, which means putting goals in the back of the net isn’t their problem. However, they’ve also conceded 37, which highlights their defensive flaws, with Dayot Upemacano often made the scapegoat, and his two consecutive red cards haven’t helped his cause.
