There’s no denying that the PSG move didn’t end well for Neymar Jr. Despite being the face of the project, at least until Mbappe knocked him off, Neymar never truly looked comfortable at PSG, with injuries limiting the Brazilian and causing him to be unavailable when it mattered most.
Neymar’s best period was at Barcelona when he was part of arguably one of the greatest teams and possibly the best frontline in the history of the sport. He formed a strong partnership with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, and fate could bring them together one last time, as the Brazilian recently admitted.
Neymar Jr’s Lionel Messi-linked comment fuels Inter Miami move
Neymar put an end to his PSG career last summer when he was sold for a reported fee of around $90 million to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League. Coincidentally, it was also the same time his friend and former Barcelona teammate left PSG on a free transfer to surprisingly join Inter Miami in the MLS despite having offers on the table from Barcelona and a Saudi club.
With reports claiming Neymar may leave Al-Hilal at the end of his contract next year, the Brazilian has responded to rumors that claim he could reunite with former MSN members Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, who are now playing in the MLS for Inter Miami.
“I have spoken with Lionel Messi, he said he wants me to come to Inter Miami,” the injured Al-Hilal star revealed. If the move materializes, he’ll become the fifth former Barcelona player to represent the Florida-based club, as David Beckham has been building a team of former players from the Catalan club, including Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba.
When does Neymar Jr.’s Al Hilal contract expire?
Neymar Jr signed for Al-Hilal last summer on a bumper contract, making him one of the highest-paid players in the world. The Brazilian penned a two-year contract, which expires in June 2025, although it’s very unlikely that the reigning Saudi Pro League champions would renew his contract.
Neymar has been out injured since last October when he went down with a knee injury in what turned out to be an ACL tear. He will be unavailable for Al-Hilal for the rest of the season, making it difficult for the Saudi club to keep him on their books. Although he recently returned to the country for the first time since his injury.
Neymar has also been mooted for a transfer back to his native Santos after paying a visit to the club last week. He was given a king’s welcome by Santos, and it’s been reported that Neymar Jr will be willing to go back to his boyhood club once his contract at Al-Hilal expires.
