NFL analyst draws striking parallels between Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady after Chiefs’ shocking Broncos loss

The Kansas City Chiefs team was hungry to clinch a Lombardi Trophy, yet they were not seeing any positive outcome from their vet starter, Alex Smith, instigating them to find a solution with Patrick Mahomes. With his magical showmanship, the quarterback lent the Chiefs a hand to fulfill their aspiration twice within just four seasons.

From Week 2 of this season,  Mahomes’ dominance with a winning streak once more began to strike, yet it was at last stopped by the Denver Broncos in Week 8. The terrible loss prompted NFL analyst Colin Cowherd to draw a similar scenario for Chiefs starter and NFL legend Tom Brady.

Colin Cowherd sees Mahomes-Brady resemblance

Before Brady got the starter position for the New England Patriots,  the team was as struggling as the Chiefs were without Mahomes. The appearance of both quarterbacks worked as magic for their teams and ultimately, the number of Super Bowls they granted to their teams proved their worthiness.

While after the Chief’s Week 8 loss,  many NFL fans did not hold back from raising questions about Mahomes, Cowherd sees the defeat as only the failure of the KC team to secure a fierce offensive lineup without Mahomes.

The NFL analyst then recalled the scenario of Brady with the Patriots team, lacking good offensive weapons to support him. Nevertheless,  Cowherd claimed that in both cases, the team’s tight ends came out as the supporting hand for their quarterbacks when their receiver failed to provide necessary assistance.

In this case, Brady got Rob Gronkowski while Mahomes got Travis Kelce and the duo’s performance made the NFL fans spellbound and keep themselves enjoying the teams’ supremacy.

It’s all because Patrick Mahomes was sick. If you want to use that as an excuse, they’re not very good offensively. This season for Mahomes is starting to look like some of the years in New England for Brady, where he had a great tight end, like Gronk, and then cross your fingers.”

The Brady-Gronk duo won three Super Bowls together for the Patriots within nearly one decade, while the Mahomes-Kelce duo also did not fall short and already added two Super Bowls to their combined resume.

Chiefs suffer one of the league’s biggest upsets of the season

The Chiefs’ starting of the season was frustrating, yet this level of performance could not be expected to be extended by the team by the two-time MVP. Week 8 led them to experience their second setback of the season, though this time it was more horrible than the teams’ expectations.

The offensive lineup of the Chiefs was spotted struggling during the whole night and at last ended the game by adding just 9 points to their scoreboard, as per FOX Sports. During their disappointing night, their star quarterback’s performance added more frustration, and they ended the game with zero touchdowns for the first time in the season.

Nevertheless,  Mahomes got backing in spite of his poor stats from Cowherd, as he blamed the team’s offense directly for it. The NFL analyst thinks if Pat has a good pass rusher like Julian Edelman, the quarterback may not have to stumble at that level.

“The difference is Brady would have a clever slot guy, a Wes Welker, or a Julian Edelman, veteran receivers who knew how to beat a zone. This Kansas City Chiefs group is kids that can’t catch, drop a lot of passes. And Brady got frustrated visibly. And yesterday Mahomes got really frustrated which is rare.”

Following the upset loss, the Chiefs dropped to 6-2 which helped the Broncos to snap their 16-0 losing streak against the KC team and 12-0 losing streak against Mahomes.

In the upcoming contest, Mahomes’s team is set to battle the 6-2 Miami Dolphins. Who do you think can extend their winning record? Make sure to let us know in the comments section.
