In the competitive landscape of the NFL world, earning the title of best player or even one of the best players in a particular position is not a piece of cake. While players like Tom Brady usually abstained from taking their name in the legend category, the Chicago Bears Justin Fields is somehow an exception to them.
Fields didn’t shy away from taking his name in the list of the best rushing quarterbacks of all time in NFL history. The signal-caller is just in the third season of his career and hence, his bold statement was criticized by a renowned sports personality.
Colin Cowherd challenges Justin Fields’ self-assessment
The NFL analyst Colin Cowherd couldn’t agree with Field‘s comment of putting himself in the notable list of the best-rushing QBs and instead, linked the young star with Johnny Manziel and Baker Mayfield for possessing ego,
“I don’t think he’s one of the top five running quarterbacks. You get banged up, can’t win games. It’s not the end of the world. MVP, MVP, 4-time Pro Bowler, Super Bowl winner . . . bust.”
"I've always been 60/40 that Justin Fields is going to succeed… I'm pulling back 5 percent. Lacks a little self awareness."

Colin continued his discussion saying the players at this position are usually the leaders of the teams and hence, they should be a little more considerate while answering these types of questions. The NFL analyst thinks Justin’s move of placing himself among the top-5 list is ego-driven.
The 2019 Big Ten Football Championship game MVP started in just 25 games in his NFL career after being plagued by injuries and recorded 1,563 yards along with 10 touchdowns on 232 attempts in those games.
Fields calling himself one of the greatest rushing QBs.
During a recent appearance on the ‘All Things Covered’ podcast, Justin was asked to list the best rushing quarterbacks in the league. He didn’t halt back from ensuring his presence in the elite list saying, “I’m definitely in the top five”. The other four players to be featured in his list are Lamar Jackson, Michael Vick, Cam Newton, and Steve Young.

In the 2022 season, the 24-year-old signal-caller has already established his strong position in the NFL by becoming just the third QB in the league’s history to amass over 1,000 rushing yards in a single season. His phenomenal 1,143 rushing yards fell only 64 yards short of the Baltimore Ravens Jackson’s single-season record (1,206 yards) for the position that he earned back in 2019.
