Citing a packed schedule focusing on implementing their defensive scheme and finalizing their coaching staff, they explained their decision to prioritize internal work over the in-person scouting event.
“Zim and I will have a full week together here and cover a lot of ground with things we’re working on,” he said, per ESPN.
Despite their absence from the physical event, McCarthy assured that they would still engage with and interview potential players virtually.
“At the same time, we can still participate in the combine process and have direct contact through video calls and meetings, while having our coaches on the ground there as well.”
Meanwhile, the decision by McCarthy and Zimmer to skip the NFL Combine 2024 has sparked discussions among fans and analysts. Many feel that this approach lacks the personal interactions and firsthand observations crucial for gauging a player’s character and prowess.
