The Dallas Cowboys, led by superstar quarterback Dak Prescott, are going strong in their potential Super Bowl quest. After getting shut down by the divisional rival Philadelphia Eagles, they smashed the New York Giants in the following match with a big 49-17 victory with the record-setting performance of wide receiver CeDee Lamb and Prescott.
With a 6-3 mark, the Cowboys are currently sitting at the second spot of the NFC East. Meanwhile, their defensive tackle Neville Gallimore had to digest a big fine following his notorious hit on one of Giants stars during their 32-point win at AT&T Stadium.
Cowboys Gallimore fines for unnecessary roughness
With just a few seconds left in the Giants’ Sunday loss against the Cowboys, Gallimore brutally kicked the Giants offensive lineman Justin Pugh in the groin. He received a 15-yard penalty and was ejected due to the infamous shove. Following the incident Pugh said he would not like the Cowboys star to get slapped with a fine, albeit his action surely deserved a fine.
“Look, he hit the quarterback late, I took exception to it, I hit him, I shouldn’t have done that when he was on the ground, pushed him and he kicked meI’ve gotten in so many fights in my career, I’m not gonna cost myself money. He’s gonna get a FedEx so I feel bad for him on that. I don’t want a guy to lose money. But you don’t kick somebody on a football field”, he said via the New York Post.
However, the NFL didn’t shy away from imposing a $9,754 fine on the defensive star for his action.
The former third-round pick out of Oklahoma tore around the line of scrimmage before trying to sack the Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito. However, the QB managed to throw the ball to running back Jashaun Corbin before getting tangled with Gallimore on the field. Pugh appeared on the spot and tried to separate them. The Cowboys veteran wound up his leg and delivered the notorious hit on him. He recorded three combined tackles along with two quarterback hits before getting out of the contest.
Dominant Cowboys embarrass Giants
In the Giants’ blowout loss against the Cowboys, they were struggling from the start of the match. The team’s offense got shut down to 172 total yards while, despite not playing at their best form, the Cowboys offense picked up 641 offensive yards.
The Cowboys achieved a new feat as six players including Prescott, wide receivers CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, and Michael Gallup as well as tight end Jake Ferguson alongside running back Rico Dowdle recorded a touchdown in the same game. The team’s signal-caller completed 26 of 35 passes for 404 yards along with four touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Lamb caught catching 11 passes for 151 yards with a touchdown. He set a new record by becoming the first receiver in NFL history to catch a minimum of 10 passes for at least 150 yards for three straight campaigns.
The Dallas-based team had decimated the Giants in Week 1 with a 40-0 victory, and now with the 49-17 shutdown, they outscored the Giants 89-17 in the two games.
