Aaron Rodgers didn’t showcase as much dedication in his last few years with the Green Bay Packers as he showed with the New York Jets in the last few months. The Jets were also flying high having the four-time MVP in their squad. They even dreamt of ending their prolonged Super Bowl drought this year, having the quarterback at the helm until all efforts went in vain following A-Rod’s injury.
Rodgers is not in the squad to ensure a Super Bowl run this year, instead, he himself is having a hard time recovering from his potential season-ending injury. However, the veteran has recently revealed that the Baltimore Ravens running back JK Dobbins is boosting his confidence in this crucial time.
Aaron Rodgers talks about working with JK Dobbins during rehab
Rodgers has been spending time in Malibu, California to recover from his Achilles rupture. He visited the stadium earlier to enjoy the Jets vs. Kansas City Chiefs showdown after being declared by the doctors as medically fit to fly, albeit the QB’s rehabilitation process will continue till he bounces back to full form.
This recovery from such an injury required both physical and mental effort, especially when fans were keeping their fingers crossed to see a Lombardi trophy in A-Rod’s hand this season. JK Dobbins had also faced a similar struggle after a notable setback in his own career.
During his weekly appearance in the The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday, the Jets star said how both of them are motivating and uplifting each other throughout the challenging rehabilitation process.
“I get to rehab with JK Dobbins right now. Awesome kid who’s gone through a couple rough injuries the last few years. Fantastic player, and had the same surgery as me. And we’re both inspiring each other.”
The ex-Packers star was earlier rumored to sustain a season-ending injury, albeit Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network relieved Jets’ fans by saying the 10-time Pro Bowler might be returning to the field this season. Dr. Neal ElAttrache, a famous orthopedic surgeon, and his team used an internal brace called an Achilles “speed bridge” in conducting the ex-Packers star’s surgery and it can reduce his recovery period to four months.
Update of JK Dobbins injury
Dobbins sustained an Achilles injury in Baltimore’s Week 1 match against the Houston Texans. He embraced the misfortune in the third quarter of the match when he was tackled near the goal line. The RB was helped by trainers to proceed to the locker room and didn’t return to the field later. With that torn Achilles tendon, his season came to an abrupt end.
The young star never missed a single game in college during his three-year tenure at Ohio State. However, after getting selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, he suffered a knee injury in the 2021 season and missed the whole campaign. The fourth-year star has worked hard to recover from that setback, and appeared on the field last, albeit he was limited to eight games only.
These back-to-back injuries limited Dobbins to showcase his caliber on the field, and now, his healthy return would only ensure a bright future for him in the competitive landscape of the league. We wish both Rodgers and Dobbins a speedy recovery.
