NFL journalist applauds Travis Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift for rejecting $100 million FTX deal, criticizing Tom Brady for promoting crypto fraud

Being one of the biggest sporting leagues in the country, the NFL has springboarded individuals to the top of the media pecking order ever since its inception. People like Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and Tom Brady have all been the center of media attention throughout their careers. Many of these superstars have also gone on to stitch tie-ups with several brands.

However, the players should also be aware that with great power comes great responsibility. With the Sam Bankman-Fried-led FTX fraud coming to light in recent weeks, reports have emerged that have embroiled several NFL superstars, including NFL legend and future Hall of Famer Tom Brady.

NFL journalist hails Taylor Swift for rejecting $100 million FTX deal

In a recent thread of posts published on X, notable journalist Martin Calladine exposed many sporting personalities who were involved in the FTX scandal. The sports writer also hailed pop sensation Taylor Swift for her awareness regarding the FTX deal she was offered and how she navigated her way through the mess.

In the tweet, he said, “You know who didn’t accept money to endorse FTX? Taylor Swift, who turned down $100 million to promote them, recognized that it was a scam. Bravo.” This revelation also exposed other athletes who lacked awareness and were roped into this scam by Bankman-Fried, who has been convicted and now faces up to 20 years of prison on each count.

Tom Brady’s involvement in FTX scam explained

The FTX scam is surely one of the more notorious ones in recent history. The sheer amount of money and stardom involved in the fiasco has made heads roll worldwide. Tom Brady, one of the greatest athletes to ever step out on the pitch, was also roped in by Bankman-Fried.

Tom Brady appeared in several TV commercials for the now-defunct crypto-trading organization, vouching for the brand’s authenticity and rate of growth. Moreover, Brady also attended a business conference in the capacity of FTX’s ambassador in the Bahamas.

In return, FTX agreed to pay him upwards of $30 million. This amount was covered almost in its entirety by FTX stocks. At the time of the signing of this contract, only three people were aware of it. Tom Brady’s now estranged wife, Gisele Bundchen was one of them. In fact, Bundchen herself was paid an amount north of $18 million by Bankman-Fried’s organization.

At the moment, the seven-time Super Bowl winner is being sued by a group of FTX’s customers over his involvement in the scam.
