Before landing with his new team New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers spent his entire 18-year NFL career playing for the Green Bay Packers. The seasoned quarterback seemed to still have enough to offer his new squad despite age-related concerns.
Unsurprisingly, it makes many people think of Tom Brady, one of the finest players in the game. Brady’s bosom friend Rob Gronkowski also falls in the category who played alongside TB12 for more than one decade.
Gronkowski expects Rodgers to shine
Rodgers joined the Big Apple this offseason, a team that hasn’t made the playoffs in 12 years. When Tom joined the Buccaneers in 2020, they had not made the playoffs since 2007. This is why the timing looks to be so appropriate.
Brady’s former partner made a comparison between the timing and performance of Aaron and Tom during a recent interview with Kay Adams. As the Jets are set to play the Bills, Cowboys, Patriots, and Chiefs to reach the playoffs, Gronk referred to the Jets’ scenario as the “hardest division in football this year” when asked about their schedule.
The former tight end immediately identified similarities between the league’s top two quarterbacks since they both signed on for their final season with teams that, despite having a strong offense and defense, haven’t made the playoffs in almost a decade,
“Very similar situation with one Tom in Tampa. I mean the Jets made the playoffs I think in 2010. They both have good defenses, the offense was not only that. They’re improving just like they have Rodgers how he wants to be Jets”
In 2020, when Covid-19 all but brought the planet to a standstill, Brady joined the Buccaneers. Because of this, the former Buccaneers starter had plenty of time to adjust to his new workplace. The two-time MVP, though, was denied the chance,
“Very very similar and the thing is the Jets and Rodgers aren’t the covid situation. Tom with Tampa was in covid situation,” Gronk concluded.
How many Super Bowls has Brady won with Bucs?
For many players today, the thought of breaking Brady’s records has become a massive undertaking due to the outstanding career he has built for himself in football. His current Super Bowl record of 7-3 serves as the ideal illustration in this regard.
In his second season, Tom Terrific took over as the Patriots’ leader, and he found his footing by the 2001 campaign. On February 3, 2002, the then-rising prospect led the squad to their first-ever Lombardi trophy as they were heavily favored to win the Super Bowl. He was the youngest player in his position to win the championship and received the Super Bowl MVP award in recognition of his outstanding success.
He maintained New England’s dominance and brought the Lombardi Trophy to the region five more times in 2004 (XXXVIII), 2005 (XXXIX), 2015 (XLIX), 2017 (LI), and 2019 (LIII). The latest Lombardi trophy won by the fifteen-time Pro Bowler came with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he helped the squad to a 31-9 against the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021.
Aaron has already demonstrated his commitment to helping the Jets win their next Super Bowl. Let’s see how the Veteran actually performs when the beat comes to shove.
