Marcedes Lewis has built up himself as the backbone of the offensive line and a crucial blocker throughout his 17th NFL season. He is considered by many to be a valuable asset to pretty much any team he plays in due to his exceptional skill set.
The Chicago Bears squad wanted to develop a strategy to strengthen their defenses and in their pursuit signed the former Green Bay Packers tight end Lewis who made the Pro Bowl in 2010.
Marcedes Lewis’ $2M contract details with Bears
Lewis and the Bears have reportedly agreed to a one-year, $2 million contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. However, there are still more deal specifics to emerge. He will join Cole Kmet and Robert Tonyan in the tight-end group for the Chicago teams as a result of the deal. Tonayan also landed in Chicago this offseason while Comet agreed to an extension this offseason.

The 39-year-old has found former teammates Equanimeous St. Brown, Lucas Patrick, and Tonayan, so this is somewhat of a reunion. Patrick looked quite happy and excited about the contact and shared a post of Marcedes signing with the caption, “BIG DOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” in it.
The ex-pro bowl player also reconnected with Luke Getsy, the offensive coordinator for the Bears, who served as Green Bay’s head coach for three years (2019–2021).
Marcedes Lewis set to create NFL history
The former Packers tight end is on track to achieve a milestone, as Tom Pelissero reported. Lewis would enter his 18th NFL season, having played in 251 regular-season games if he joins the Bears’ roster and takes the field in a game. As a result, the player could be able to surpass the record held by future Hall of Famer Jason Witten and Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez for the most ever seasons played by a TE.
Prior to joining the Bears, the experienced first-round pick from 2006, played 12 seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the later five with the Green Bay Packers. He has caught 432 passes for 5,084 yards and 39 receiving touchdowns during his 17th season.
On the same day, the Bears also signed defensive end Yannick Ngakoue which shows how serious they are to win this upcoming season where Mercedes is expected to add his 17th season’s experience.
