NFL Rumors: Falcons concludes interview with Mike Macdonald, Ravens DC sheds light on new experience

The Baltimore Ravens have been the team to beat this year. Their performances throughout the regular season have been nothing short of exemplary and it has shown in their record heading into the postseason.

Now that the playoffs are upon us, most of the Ravens coaching staff is being looked at by the underperforming sides, trying to fill up their gaps and improve on their performances this season. One of those coaches is defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, who has been interviewed by several franchises already.

Mike Macdonald interviews for Falcons HC role

Throughout the season, supporters and analysts have waxed lyrical about the skill and expertise of the Ravens’ coaching staff, and especially of DC McDonald’s. The Ravens have been resolute in defense and have proved to be a nightmare for the opposition’s offensive lines.

That is why the Atlanta Falcons have already started the process of recruiting Mike Macdonald for the position of Head Coach after firing their current coach Arthur Smith , much to the joy of the Falcons faithful. By making a post on X (formerly Twitter), the franchise let everyone know that the first step towards recruiting a promising HC has already been taken.

Falcons supporters were pretty stoked on seeing this piece of information, as one comment read, “Hire him pls, he’s legit a former UGA student that’s leading one of the best defenses consistently. He’s only 36 too!” while some Ravens supporters were reluctant to let him go. “For all Falcons fans saying wrong coordinator and shit, you’re right MacDonald is awful. You don’t want him, he should stay in Baltimore and not go be a head coach. Just terrible, he’s a product of the players!” said another.

Mike McDonald talks on HC interview experience

While the process of recruiting an HC for other teams gains traction over the coming weeks, the Baltimore Ravens will be strongly focused on their playoff chances. This was also the sentiment echoed by defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald in a recent interview he gave to The Baltimore Sun.

“This is the first time I’m going through it, so not a lot of experience to draw off of,” said Macdonald about his recent coaching interviews. “But, you know, the way the schedule sets up, you just have to deal with the way it’s structured. Our focus right now with our guys is to really improve and stay sharp and ramp up to make sure that we bring our A-Game come next weekend.”
