NFL Trade Rumors: Dolphins ‘exploring’ potential free agent RB Kareem Hunt deal amid Jonathan Taylor move holdout

After finishing a superb last season with a 9-8 record and making it into the playoffs for the first time since 2016, the Miami Dolphins are more confident of having another winning season. Hence, just before the regular season, the team is reportedly striving to become a more balanced team in the upcoming season.

However, although the Dolphins were seemingly much more confident with their stable running back room, rumors swirled on the air about their possible signing of Kareem Hunt and former Indianapolis Colts player Jonathon Taylor.

Dolphins reportedly ‘exploring’ possible signing of RB Kareem Hunt

Hunt had been with the Cleveland Browns for the previous four seasons, but after the 2022 season, the Browns chose to let his contract expire due to his deteriorating speed. Later, the 28-year-old declared himself a free agent, saying he must exercise patience and keep looking for the best offer. The running back has so far accepted offers from four teams over the past few weeks and has paid many teams numerous visits.

According to reports, the Dolphins are looking into the prospect of signing the unsigned running back, even though, up to this point, none of his visits have resulted in a contract. The Dolphins are more worried about the injury issues at their running back position, which has driven them insane to sign the best available free-agent running back in the NFL.

However, since Kareem just finished a season in which he averaged a career-worst 3.8 yards per carry on 123 carries in 17 games with the Browns, his acquisition to the Dolphins team could possibly pose a concern.

Dolphins reportedly willing to give Jonathan Taylor a high-market deal

The Colts gave their seasoned running back, Taylor, permission to look for a trade before the deadline for roster cuts. The Colts declined to give the 24-year-old a multi-year extension; therefore, he is trying to negotiate his way out of the team.

Six teams have shown interest in signing Taylor, but only two offers have been made, according to ESPN. The Dolphins were in the front row, ready to seize the chance to add Jonathan to their lineup. However, the Green Bay Packers eventually joined them in the Taylor trade.

Both the Miami squad and the Packers are reportedly competing to sign the seasoned running back while offering him a substantial contract that will rank him among the highest-paid backs in the NFL, according to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports.

The Colts star just completed a season in which he averaged a decent 4.5 yards per carry and tied for eighth in the NFL with 861 running yards.

Which Dolphins signing, in your opinion, will be beneficial for them to put their worries over their running back room to rest? Let us know in the comment section.
