“N*gga you’re not funny”: NBA community outraged after Jonathan Isaac teases to dawn Donald Trump-inspired sneakers

Recently, US Presidential election candidate Donald Trump released his own sneaker line to promote his campaign and target the younger generation of voters, aiming to gain crucial support from this demographic in the upcoming elections.

While certain former NBA players, such as Lou Williams, were opposed to the idea of the sneakers, Orlando Magic star Jonathan Isaac had a unique approach to the sneakers, causing fury among the NBA community.

Priced at 399 USD, the shoe was released by Trump to commemorate his election campaign, promoting inclusivity and reaching out to the younger citizens of the United States of America. However, many expressed concern over the intentions of the release and called for a boycott of the shoes.

Not Orlando Magic star Jonathan Isaac, though, who explored the idea of wearing the shoes through Twitter. Isaac posted a message on Twitter saying, “Might wear trump’s kicks just to watch yall go crazy jkjkjk.” Jonathan is a crucial role player for Orlando Magic, and has played an effective role for the team on the offensive and defensive ends on the court.

This season, featuring in 39 games for the team, Isaac is averaging 6.3 points per game along with 4.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks. Jonathan Isaac has been related to Trump in the past and previously was under the spotlight for his stance to not kneel during the US National Anthem as part of the Black Lives Matter movement which erupted in the NBA Bubble in 2020.

Explaining the reason for his interesting stance, Jonathan Isaac said, “For me, it was simply about offering another solution. I saw the issue. I saw the problem. I saw what happened to George Floyd. And as I listened to the tone and the rhetoric of the Black Lives Matter organization and movement, I never truly felt comfortable.”
