Nick Bosa holds firm on contract demands amid 49ers star’s honest admission about season opener

The San Francisco 49ers are set to kick off their regular season with a major miscommunication with their first-round pick of the 2019 NFL Draft Nick Bosa. The seasoned defensive lineman, who has proven his value over the course of these three seasons, appears dissatisfied with his deal with the 49ers.

Bosa decided to hold out as a result and was not at the 49ers’ facility. It forced the San Francisco franchise to schedule their regular-season game without the participation of their veteran player.

49ers prepare for week 1 without Nick Bosa as contract talks stall

Bosa’s fifth-year option is expected to pay him $17.8 million, but he wants more money. Therefore he hasn’t been with the team since it began training camp on July 25. The 49ers have started practicing on the field to get ready for their Week 1 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which is just days away.

The Defensive Player of the Year did not show up for practice as normal, and it is safe to assume that he will not play in the 49ers’ Week 1 game unless they extend him a lucrative contract soon.

Bosa’s situation, however, does not resemble Chris Jones’, who fell into the Chiefs’ “black list” after demanding a hefty deal and holding out. The head coach of the Niners Kyle Shanahan claimed that they are making unremitting efforts to extend Nick Bosa’s deal for a sizable sum.

“I thought it would come probably at this time, just looking at the history of those things. And I’m really hoping it gets done. I know they’re working tirelessly at it … but hopefully we can get him in here sooner than later.”

The Chief is apparently no longer in contact with Jones, but the 49ers are still in contact with Bosa’s agent, Brian Ayrault.

Talanoa Hufanga acknowledges the possibility of Bosa’s absence in the season-opener

The 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga recently spoke with The Mercury News, and he revealed that the team is preparing to play in Week 1 without Nick Bosa due to his choice to sit out. Hufanga expressed sincere hopes that Bosa would join the team soon while keeping their game plan for the absence of Bosa under wraps.

“We’d love to have Bosa, obviously. We just have to prepare as if he’s not going to be here. That’s an upper-echelon, front-office question, so, I don’t know if I can answer more on that. … When Bosa gets here with that No. 97 on, it’ll be nice.”

The 49ers are also prepared to make Nick Bosa one of the highest-paid defenders in NFL history, so a profitable deal to beat all the previous records is reportedly ongoing. However, a lucrative contract extension deal demands patience, so the 49ers fans should hold their patience till their hero gets his expected deal.
