The Philadelphia Eagles, led by head coach Nick Sirianni, competed in Super Bowl LVII against the Kansas City Chiefs but didn’t succeed in the run. They terribly went down against the Bucs, and now, Sirianni’s job security is a hot topic of discussion.

In the aftermath of the Eagles’ disappointing 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card playoff, the question on everyone’s mind is whether Nick Sirianni will return for the next season. Despite being bombarded with inquiries about his job security, he displayed a steadfast focus on his players and their efforts in a post-match interview.
“I’m not thinking about that. thinking about the guys. All the guys in that locker room, every single one of them, they put their heart and soul into this. I’m not worried about me. As the head coach, I’m just trying to be there for our guys and our staff right now through a tough time”, he said via NFL.com.
The head coach revealed that he has not scheduled an end-of-season meeting with Philly owner, Jeffrey Lurie. But, he revealed that his immediate concern is supporting his team through this tough time, rather than dwelling on his own fate.
“Again, like I said, I’m not there yet. I don’t know exactly quite yet, wasn’t expecting it to end tonight. It did. I’ll put together a schedule here on the plane ride home and then tomorrow.”
The potential departure of Sirianni would mark the fourth coaching change in 11 years for the Eagles. However, according to Forbes, the Eagles are unlikely to part ways with Nick Sirianni this offseason. The report says changes to the coaching staff are anticipated. Offensive coordinator Brian Johnson might be exploring opportunities elsewhere and uncertainty may surround the return of defensive coordinators Sean Desai and Matt Patricia, but Sirianni’s position seems secure.
Calls for Eagles HC’s dismissal grow louder despite Jalen Hurts support
The Eagles’ offense stumbled significantly by going only 0-for-11 on third and fourth downs combined. The nine points scored against the Bucs marked their lowest output since Week 7 of the 2021. Despite this downfall, quarterback Jalen Hurts didn’t shy away from backing Nick Siriann In the post-game interview, when asked about Sirianni’s potential departure, the signal-caller seemed oblivious, stating, “I didn’t know he was going anywhere.”
However, former three-time Pro Bowler Seth Joyner took a starkly different stance by advocating for a complete rebuild from top to bottom. He pointed out Sirianni’s assertion that his fingerprints are on everything in the roster. Seth said if that’s the case, the HC should be held accountable and let go.
“I think that this is a total rebuild from top to bottom. Nick Sirianni has continued to say that my fingerprints are on everything on this roster. If that’s the case, then he has to go.”
The defensive struggles also exacerbated the Eagles’ playoff downfall. Their D-line surrendered 426 total yards to the Bucs. It gave up four consecutive scoring drives early in the game and later succumbed to two touchdown possessions of 62 and 83 yards as well. The sentiment among fans echoes the same perspective of firing the team’s HC.
