Nevertheless, NFL insider Ian Rapoport offered a different perspective on Sanders’ assertion during his appearance on the same podcast. Rapoport indicated that, in his experience, instances of teams leaking negative information about players are rare, with teams often being cautious about such actions to avoid any backlash.
“You know, probably less than the amount of fingers that I have in one hand has it happened to me, where a team leaks negative information. If anything, it’s almost like they’re protective of that information because they don’t want it to get back to them, that they’re killing some player. I think that’s more of a myth than anything else,” Rapoport said, per Awful Announcing.
Coach Prime is no stranger to making bold statements about draft prospects. Though he opted to keep his son, Shedeur Sanders, out of the draft, he advised USC quarterback Caleb Williams against joining the Chicago Bears due to the city’s weather conditions.
