Oscar Piastri had an almost record breaking debut in Formula 1 with McLaren, as he raced alongside his British counterpart Lando Norris to give McLaren a miraculous recovery. While the general sentiments of both drivers align towards McLaren, it should be noted that there are many interests among other teams.
Formula 1 is an incredibly competitive sport and drivers choose the best teams they can get. At any point in time, drivers can break away from their contracts in search of better options. While there may be many drivers who choose to stay with the same team for a long time, they might not get the best results or be able to perform at a competitive level. However, that might not be the case for Lando Norris.

Oscar Piastri was Lando’s new teammate after Danny Ric left for Red Bull. It was a challenging year for the drivers of the Papaya outfit but they managed to stay calm-headed and take McLaren towards a better end. Due to his sensational performance and his talent, Lando has quite a reputation in Formula 1. The top teams were looking forward to his choices.
Lando Norris surprised everyone with his sentiments regarding McLaren and his decision to stay with the team in order to win a championship with them in future. Lando Norris also confirmed his determination to win with McLaren in a recent warning to Max Verstappen.
Oscar Piastri’s words in front of the media seem to imply the same, as the Aussie expressed his excitement over racing with Lando Norris. āWeāre going to be alongside each other for a few more years to come, which is exciting.ā Oscar’s confirmation regarding Lando Norris was the last nail in the coffin and it is clear what McLaren’s future looks like.
Piastri sings Lando Norris praise
Oscar Piastri was rookie this year but he never felt overshadowed by his teammate. McLaren’s fair strategy and the competition provided by Lando gave him an ample environment to grow his talent further. Oscar was incredibly satisfied with his season and with the team.
The Australian rookie went on to extend his contract with McLaren and Lando Norris’s involvement in the team could be a key reason. Piastri has never shied away from praising the Briton and he did the same in one of his recent statements. āItās been really good, even from the beginning. I’ve always felt part of the team. The relationship with Lando has been very good from the start, especially our working relationship ā it has been very strong.ā
It is obvious that McLaren would want them to have a similar dynamic if they want to compete at the top of the grid next year. Team synchronization would be crucial for McLaren in case the two drivers started competing on a much more intense scale.
