Pat McAfee reacts to Jets ending Eagles’ unbeaten streak with one word, while Zach Wilson renaissance continues

With the Philadelphia Eagles‘ loss to the Jets and the San Francisco 49ers’ defeat to the Cleveland Browns, the NFL world witnessed two of the biggest upsets of the 2023 season. Just two weeks ago, the Jets went down to the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs by only three points.

Following the 20-23 loss, Gang Green bounced back effortlessly to ensure a win against the Denver Broncos, and now they stretched the streak by smashing the unbeaten Philly squad, keeping Zach Wilson at the helm. After the Big Apple’s historic victory, former NFL punter Pat McAfee had a short but hilarious response.

Pat McAfee reacts to Jets win

The Jets entered their Week 6 campaign with the blow of not having their top two cornerbacks Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed. As usual, they started the match against the Eagles in a lackluster way, falling behind by double digits in the first half for the fourth consecutive home game. However, they bounced back stronger than ever in the second quarter and finished the match with a 20-14 win.

McAfee, who has New York’s quarterback Aaron Rodgers as his regular weekly guest, discusses the NFL’s trending topics more often. A-Rod regularly shares his optimism about his new team in the show, although both of them barely could predict that the Jets would be able to steal a win from the Eagles, against whom they were 0-12.

Pat took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to share his response by writing “THE JETS” with a funny GIPHY of a man exclaiming in wonder.

Not just the NFL analyst, but the whole NFL community was in disbelief as they bombarded social media with the Big Apple’s magnificent performance. However, the Jets’ defense deserves all the credit for the win as they recorded just 244 yards of total offense. But the D-line forced four turnovers and gave the Philly QB Jalen Hurts a scary nightmare.

Jets teammates sing Zach Wilson praise

Wilson stepped in the starter spot following Rodgers’ injury and terribly failed in the quarterbacking job until week 3. From week 4 to yesterday’s match against Philadelphia, the signal-caller has been showcasing the potential to grab the QB1 spot for the long run.

The dual-threat went 19 of 33 for just 186 yards against Hurts’ squad, and following the win, the Jets guard Laken Tomlinson heaped praise on the QB saying he led the team to keep fighting on their way to the first win against Philadelphia.

“Man, he’s a hell of a guy. Did you not see that pass he made?!? Man that was so crazy. I love Zach man, he’s a hell of a warrior. A hell of a warrior. He went out there & held the offense together & kept us fighting. He kept on slinging it too. That’s one thing, coming from the quarterback position, a guy who’s coming out there who’s never gonna lose faith, that’s contagious. That’s really contagious.”

Gang Green’s running back, Breece Hall, who recorded 12 carries for 39 yards, gushed about him as well after the game. The veteran said the signal-caller is improving gradually and added that A-Rod’s influence is clearly visible in his latest plays.

“Zach is getting better every week; we’re all getting better. You know with Aaron, he’s so seasoned and he’s seen so many different looks and has adjustments and checks he gives us. Now Zach is starting to get that from him. He’s comfortable, making plays with his legs [4 runs for 15 yards] and helping us out.”

Wilson’s completion rate has increased from 54.5% to 61.1% this year, and his accuracy on short passes has increased from 65.6% to 71.4%, according to ESPN Stats & Information research. If he can maintain his current form, the Jets may be able to find their franchise quarterback in him. What are your thoughts on the young actor’s performance? Tell us in the comments section.
