Pat McAfee sends passionate letter to NFL fans before Elon Musk’s decision to rebrand Twitter to X: “I’m grateful this bird app existed”

After Elon Musk purchased Twitter in October 2022, the social site with nearly 200 million daily active users suffered repeated technical failures. Besides sacking much of its staff, the tycoon seems to be on the mission of bringing back-to-back changes to the bird app. However, the renowned sports media personality Pat McAfee couldn’t fathom the potential upcoming change.

Musk brought in many changes after taking over the app, starting from unlocking blocked accounts including former president Donald Trump and former kickboxing champion Andrew Tate. However, the recent rumored change by the Space X and Tesla co-founder to the seasoned app has upset many long-time Twitter users, including Pat McAfee.

Pat McAfee gets emotional with Elon Musk’s new Twitter rebranding

Elon revealed his plan of changing Twitter’s logo on Sunday saying, “And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.” According to the billionaire’s statement, the new Twitter logo would be in the shape of an “X”, in an attempt to turn it into “X, the everything app,”

The former NFL punter McAfee is seemingly among the users who are vehemently against the decision. He took to Twitter to convey his gratitude to the platform for changing his life with a cryptic hint of leaving the app.

“Hey… “Twitter” Thank you for everything. I owe this bird app an immense amount of thanks.. Twitter changed my life. I’m grateful it existed.”

Not just Pat, but many other netizens are jumping off the bird app and are going elsewhere because of its continuously changed policies. Change is not always bad but too many changes in such a short period of time probably rubbed many users the wrong way. For now, the platform might witness a good number of people leaving it including McAfee.

Elon Musk wants to change Twitter’s logo to X

Musk signaled the move of changing Twitter’s bird logo on Sunday by tweeting he intended to replace the blue avian silhouette with an “X” logo if he would get a suitable design. He again wrote Twitter.com is becoming X.com and the logo will go live later.

The Tesla chief executive later revealed a new logo in a 3-second video.

The company’s new CEO Linda Yaccarino earlier addressed the new changes, It’s an exceptionally rare thing – in life or in business – that you get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square.”

Musk changed the social media company’s name to X Corp after becoming its owner and said “Buying Twitter is an accelerant to creating X, the everything app”. His Rocket Company is named SpaceX, and his online payment company Paypal was originally called X.com.
