Evra revealed Sir Alex Ferguson team talk

Patrice Evra talked about a story about Sir Alex in an article in the Player’s Tribune. It was the Champions League final between Manchester United and Chelsea in 2008. They were in the dressing room when Sir Alex came in to deliver his usual pre-game talk.

Patrice goes on to say what happens. He said, “We were in the dressing room when the boss came in. As usual, the music stopped. You could hear a pin drop. Then Ferguson said, “I’ve already won.… We don’t even need to play this game.”

He goes on to say that they were surprised by the words coming out of their manager. “We were like, What is he talking about? The game hasn’t even started.”

The manager then pointed to Evra and the latter said, “Then Ferguson turned to me. “Look at Patrice”, he said. “He’s got 24 brothers and sisters. Imagine what his mother had to do to put food on the table.…”

He proceeded to point out others in the squad who had tough childhoods, like Patrice Evra. Finally, the manager shouted, “THIS is my victory!” The whole squad got ready to fight for their manager after such an inspiring speech. They would later go on to win the game on penalties and win the Champions League.
