During a playoff game, Beverley made a bold move to rattle Damian Lillard right after the star missed two pivotal free throws late in the game, shots that could’ve given Lillard and the Blazers the edge. Patrick Beverley, sitting on the bench, couldn’t resist taunting Lillard by playfully mimicking his “Dame Time” celebration. After the Blazers loss, Clippers star Beverley dismissed Dame and the Blazers, recalling Dame’s famous celebration against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In 2023, the two players clashed on the court once more. This time, Beverley stepped onto the court as part of the Los Angeles Lakers team facing off against the Portland Trailblazers. Pat Bev, known for his fierce competitiveness, decided to challenge Lillard with his taunts, sparking a fiery exchange between the two players. Following the Lakers’ impressive win over the Blazers, Beverley couldn’t resist taunting Dame by mimicking his “Dame Time” celebration.

Following the game, Beverley was quite bothered when he was asked about Dame’s performance. Taking shots at the then Blazers superstar, Patrick Beverley looked to praise himself for locking down Dame. “If he would have cooked me you would have said, ‘I couldn’t guard him.’ But he misses a couple shots and it’s a ‘slow shooting night,'” Beverley said, in assessing the question about Lillard’s performance. “‘Good job on Dame’ sounds better.” Dame chirped back by calling Bev a “conman.”.

Following the trade, both superstars have decided to put their beef aside and work together.

The two stars have also become well acquainted off the court, as Patrick Beverley recalled their interaction at teammate Bobby Portis’ birthday party. Patrick Beverley recalled saying, “We go to Bobby Portis’ birthday party. [Damian Lillard] goes, ‘What’s up Pat?’… I’m like, ‘What’s up Dame? He said, ‘We need to sit down and talk.’ I’m like, ‘F*ck talking. Let’s go out to dinner.’”

Beverley also reemphasized his and Damian Lillard’s commitment to winning their maiden championship. Beverley said, “I’ve never had a player in my career that I ever beef with, has smoke with, defended well, say he wanted to whoop my a**”. Dame was the first. To walk into a locker room and to be on a mission to do something I’ve never done before, he’s never done before, win an NBA championship.”

Despite their recent slump, both stars will hope to work efficiently to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to another championship alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, thereby getting their hands on their maiden NBA championship.
