Patriots’ Bill Belichick hails Christian Barmore, Jalen Reagor’s dominant display after securing his 300th regular-season win

Since losing Tom Brady a few years back, the New England Patriots are going down day by day. With a 2-5 mark, they are sitting at the bottom of the AFC East, and are unlikely to make a playoff run this year. The situation is getting so bad that even the team’s long-time head coach Bill Belichick has been rumored to get laid off lately.

Though Brady sometimes comes forward to defend his former coach, the Patriots need to win to save Belichick’s job and the team’s early reputation. After getting defeated in three back-to-back games, the franchise finally managed to break the losing streak by clinching a victory over the Buffalo Bills, and their HC had nothing but praise for some young stars following the win.

Belichick applauds rising stars in Patriots’ victory over Bills

In the Bills’ 29-25 win over the Bills, Christian Barmore scored a sack, four pressures along with three combined tackles and a run stop. The third-year defensive tackle was lauded heavily by the HC. Belichick explained how the youngster played well following a good off-season program.

“B-More’s had a really good year. He’s been healthy. He had a good offseason. I’d say this is the hardest that he’s trained or was able to train. Some of that’s been a little bit rehab-related. He’s had a good offseason, good training and he’s playing well. I think those things usually go together.”

The Pats’ practice squad receiver Jalen Reagor played a season-high 25 snaps in the match against the Bills. The vet got called by the team prior to their match against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 6. While appearing in 42 percent of the Patriots’ offensive snaps in Week 7, he showcased a very promising performance, and Belichick had high praise for him as well.

“Jalen’s come in, been a really good scout team player for us. We’ve played against a lot of top receivers, and he’s gotten a lot of a good opportunities with some of the routes that those guys run to kind of be featured a little bit on some of the scout team plays. He’s earned some playing time, which has come from his practice time, practice performance.”

Reagor was initially called up for the Pats’ game against the Miami Dolphins in Week 2, but he could not play a single offensive snap in the match.

Bill Belichick gets 300th regular-season win

With the Patriots’ 4-point win over the Bills, Belichick joins Don Shula and George Halas as the only NFL coaches to reach 300 wins in the regular season. Shula had 328 wins while Halas had 318. Following the win, Belichick sounded pleased, but he said his main focus is on the team’s achievement only.

“It’s great. I’m really more focused on our team and this year. I’ll worry about that later. Thank you.”

When the NFL playoffs are included, the Pats’ HC has 331 wins while Shula has 347 and Halas has 324. Though the Pats vet Mac Jones has been torn apart lately due to his performance, the QB moonlighted as a hero at the end moment in Week 7 by throwing a 1-yard touchdown pass to Mike Gesicki, on the way to ensuring a 29-25 win. Jones recorded 25 of 30 passes for 272 yards along with two touchdowns.

Belichick will have a chance to reach 301 wins when the Patriots face off against the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 29. Do you think that they will be able to beat the Dolphins? Tell us in the comments.
