Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski doubts Cowboys’ Super Bowl contender status

The Dallas Cowboys vs San Francisco 49ers week 5 game made headlines for both game-related topics and personal controversies. Besides the Cowboys’ 32-point defeat, the 49ers tight end George Kittle’s wild celebration of flashing an undershirt containing two NSFW words, “F**** Dallas”, drew the attention of the whole NFL community.

From Dallas’ linebacker Micah Parsons, and safety Jayron Kearse to San Francisco’s wide receiver Deebo Samuel, players of the two teams had been getting embroiled in off-field spicy drama. Now, former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski has come forward to provide his take on the matter.

Gronkowski calls out Cowboys

Following Kittle’s infamous action on the field, Parsons slammed him for stretching the rivalry too much while Samuel said the matter had already become personal, indicating the Cowboys’ pre-game comments.

During an interview with FanDuel TV’s Up and Adams, Gronkowski took the side of Samuel saying, given the week 5 game, the Cowboys would not want to see the 49ers again on the field.

“I’m on Deebo [Samuel]’s side. They definitely don’t want to see the San Francisco 49ers again—I don’t know what they’re thinking.”

Dallas was projected to be a potential Super Bowl contender ahead of the season, but their three victories were against the teams ranking bottom 10 in total offense. Gronk raised eyebrows regarding the Cowboys’ caliber to uplift the Lombardi trophy saying the only good team they played in this season was San Francisco, and they lost it miserably.

“The Dallas Cowboys aren’t for real, they kind of tricked us this year. I’ll tell you why they tricked us. Because they had three blown-out wins already. But you gotta look back at it now; now you’ve seen when they played a good team, the San Francisco 49ers.”

The TE heaped praise on the undrafted 49ers (5-0) while marking them the “best team in the NFL”. He also raved about the team’s move of striking gold by picking Brock Purdy, who showcased a phenomenal quarterbacking job this season by recording nine touchdowns and zero interceptions as of now.

Cowboys won against Giants, Jets and Patriots

The Cowboys are 3-2 this season after week 5, and their three victories are against the New York Giants, New York Jets, and the New England Patriots. When they picked a whopping 40-0 win against the Giants in week 1, the netizens and analysts alike thought something anomaly was going to happen this season.

Dallas boosted the confidence in the next week by securing a 20-point victory (30-10) over the New York Jets. After facing a setback in week 3, they again bounced back with a 35-point victory (38-3) against the New England Patriots. Their two losses came against the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco.

Though the Cowboys amassed three wins till now, as aforementioned all three wins are against the league’s underdogs. The franchise’s defense ranks fifth in the NFL with rivals recording an average of 292.0 yards per game, but their offense is disastrous. Hence, ahead of the AFC West opponent Los Angeles Chargers (2-2), Dallas’ biggest challenge will be to address their O-line.
