Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski slams Diggs brothers for role in Bills’ turmoil

The Buffalo Bills started the 2023 NFL season with a loss to the New York Jets. However, they geared up themselves later and picked up three consecutive wins in the following weeks.

The Bills once again started witnessing a downfall lately after going down in back-to-back games. Being a top-class receiver, Stefon Diggs is not happy with this performance, and neither is his brother Trevon Diggs, the Dallas Cowboys cornerback. Now, the former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has called out both brothers due to their off-field drama regarding the Bills’ downfall.

Rob Gronkowski takes aim at Stefon Diggs, Trevon Diggs

Diggs was spotted shouting and making a gesture at Allen following the Bills 27-10 playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last season. Though the WR and QB duo was seen having a great bond during training camp, the receiver’s frustration regarding his contract didn’t fade away.

The veteran has been sparking constant trade rumors since the offseason, and his brother Trevon was also vocal about some issues. Following the Bills’ recent loss, Stefon’s brother urged him to “gotta get up outta there” in a post on X and also threw a jab at Allen saying he didn’t start going off till his brother got there.

During a recent appearance on Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, Gronk said he doesn’t get why Trevon is urging Stefon to sign off, knowing he is the main receiver of the Bills. The TE also mentioned the receiver’s whopping four-year extension deal worth up to $96 million, including $70 million in guarantees.

“That’s a little bit too much coming from Trevon Diggs. It doesn’t make sense. Stefon Diggs, you’re paid [and] you’ve got an unbelievable contract, what’s the worries? You’re a main receiver. You’re the No. 1 wide receiver. Josh Allen looks to go to you about every single time that he possibly can.”

Diggs recorded 411 catches for 5,057 yards along with 36 touchdowns throughout his more than three years tenure with the Bills. Gronk said he doesn’t understand Diggs’ brother’s reaction to his situation with the Bills. However, the ex-NFL star said something might have happened behind closed doors that triggered the brothers.

“Your stats, they’re up there. It’s not like your stats are going to be better with another team. In the last three years, you were contending for a Super Bowl. Do you know how hard it is to be on a contending team year in and year out like that? I don’t know what the problem is with Stefon Diggs. I don’t know why his brother is tweeting that out like that. I think there’s some serious beef behind it if his brother is tweeting that. It’s not any fake news or anything. It’s a reliable source.”

Diggs scored 73 catches for 868 yards along with seven touchdowns this season. Suffices to say, he has not fallen short of expectations despite his team’s struggles.

Bills Josh Allen acknowledges playoff challenges amid dismal season

The Bills bad luck continues as the team now fell to 5-5 after Week 10. Following the team’s recent 22-24 loss against the Denver Broncos, Allen couldn’t help discussing their struggle lately while blaming the whole team for the last-moment loss.

With just a few moments left, the Bills had a 22-21 advantage, albeit the last-second field goal on which their penalty provided a final chance for the Broncos to secure the win. The signal-caller said they shouldn’t have let the contest round up like that while mentioning the mistakes they did were just unacceptable.

“It sucks. Shouldn’t have been in that position in the first place. A lot of bad football. A lot of bad football,” he said via NBC Sports.

Meanwhile, the Bills’ offense once again recorded 25 points or fewer for back-to-back six games. Earlier Josh Allen expressed optimism regarding a bounce-back performance on the offensive side. Even though the team is now half a game behind the Houston Texans for the final wild card entry in the AFC as well as a game and a half behind the Miami Dolphins in the AFC East, Allen thinks they have the caliber to have a successful journey.

“I’m still confident, but it’s no secret the clock’s ticking. We’ve got to have some urgency now,” Allen said.

The Bills will face off against the New York Jets on Sunday to keep alive their hope of a potential playoff run. Do you think that they will be able to do it? Tell us in the comments.
