The intricate relation between sport personalities and pop culture is nothing out of the ordinary. The NBA stars are no different to it and over the years multiple instances were in display where slam and glam coexist in melodic harmony. From Michael Jordan being in a movie to Stephen Curry being a singer, to Jimmy Butler vibing in a music video, the NBA has crossed the divide with great success.
Paul George could’ve been another inductee in that list when he was eyed by Nicky Minaj for a special collab but things didn’t quite resonate this time around.
Why Paul George declined Nicki Minaj’s offer?
Paul George revealed that he got an offer from the “Queen of Rap”, Nicky Minaj but he had to turn her down.
While talking to his cohost of “Podcast P Show”, Jackie Long, PG-13 said how he had a golden opportunity to make a cameo in Nicki Minaj’s music video, “You know what’s funny, this was maybe like a year or two ago, Nicki Minaj reached out for me to be in her music video”. The 9-time NBA All-Star continued, “I looked at Daniela, Daniela looked at me … ‘ay, I ain’t going to be able to do it.'”
The 33-year-old jokingly said that his wife, Daniela would have minded him playing the role of Nicki’s lover, however, later he claimed that his wife was excited for him but he had to decline the offer due to his tight schedule.
Acknowledging her celebrity status, the Clipper’s star added, “It would’ve been dope. It’s Nicki Minaj, one of the biggest female artists – not even just female, biggest artists of our lifetime!”
And that’s how Paul George missed the chance of joining the NBA players who have made cameos in music videos like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Kevin Durant, Allen Iverson and Jimmy Butler.
