As of January 1st, the January transfer window is officially open, prompting clubs and players throughout Europe to ready themselves for potential transfers and fortify their squads with new additions. Numerous teams are looking to trigger release clauses for players presently under contract.
Similarly, the release clause amount for Paulo Dybala, the Argentine star attacking midfielder, has been unveiled amidst the growing interest in his signature. Several top English Premier League clubs are keen on adding the former Juventus midfielder to their squads.
How much is Paulo Dybala’s release clause?
Paulo Dybala made a sensational switch to the Italian capital, Rome joining AS Roma under the management of Jose Mourinho in 2022 as a free agent, ending his long spell with Juventus. At Roma, the 30-year-old became one of the key players in Mourinho’s squad.
Despite missing a handful of fixtures due to injuries, the World Cup-winning midfielder has made 15 appearances, scoring 4 goals, and providing 6 assists in the forward line across all competitions this season. In this campaign, his partnership with Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku has been a key factor in Roma’s attack.
According to a recent report by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the release clause in Paulo Dybala’s current contract at Stadio Olimpico, valid until 2025, has been disclosed. The release clause is set at €13 million and is active in the January transfer window.
The mentioned release clause applies to foreign clubs outside Italy with no obligations. At the same time, AS Roma holds the right to reject offers in the case of Italian clubs with €3-5 million bonus to the player. However, in all cases, Paulo Dybala’s agreement is required, but reports suggest the 30-year-old has no intention of moving away.
Dybala’s wife already stated her preferred destination
Interestingly, earlier this year, Paulo Dybala’s wife Oriana Sabatini shared her choices for possible destinations for the Argentine international.
During a podcast with Ian Wright and Aston Villa shot-stopper Emi Martinez, where the keeper expressed his desire to bring some of his Argentine teammates to Aston Villa, Sabatini suggested the name of Dybala.
Since his Juventus days, the attacking midfielder has been one of the most sought-after names by big clubs. Nonetheless, Paulo Dybala chose to continue with the Turin side. With the transfer clause set at a reasonable bargain price, several Premier League clubs could shift their attention towards the player.
