“Play me until you kill me”: Tennis legend Jimmy Connors offers his thoughts on Novak Djokovic’s future after his Wimbledon Finals defeat

Over the past decade, it has always been the Big Three in the world of tennis. The majority of what is heard is either about Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, or Rafael Nadal. However, over the last couple of years, it has always been about the reigning supreme, Novak Djokovic, his Grand Slams, his winning streaks, and his records!

At 36 years old, Djokovic is the oldest player within the top 40 of the world and holds the record for the most number of Grand Slam men’s singles titles. The Djoker has been dominating the world of tennis for the past couple of years. The wise eight-time Grand Slam winner, Jimmy Connors, has recently expressed his take and support for this seemingly unstoppable icon.

Jimmy Connors tells Novak Djokovic things that he’d do in his position

Jimmy Connors, the American tennis legend, recently spoke about Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz in the ‘Advantage Connors’ podcast with his son. Jimmy’s comments on both of these players have turned a lot of heads. When talking about the dominance of the big three- Novak, Roger, and Rafael, Jimmy said: “They have controlled and ruled tennis for the last 15-16-18 years.”

Jimmy also commented on how tennis fans think that the Serb has had enough time on the court and should retire. He believes that Djokovic is thriving more than anyone right now and should be out more often to devour his opponents.

“It comes to a point where a lot of people think he’s had enough. To me that’s bulls**t. Look at all the people that were on the Federer bandwagon and the Nadal bandwagon as the greatest of all time. They’re not even the greatest of all time in their own era,” Jimmy added as a rather controversial opinion on Roger and Rafael.

“Somebody put up a picture, I saw on Twitter, Djokovic, where he was 40 or 50 years old, and he is still out there making a speech on Centre Court of Wimbledon. And I loved it. Because what are you gonna do? Let him play until he is 50? You know, believe me, if that was me, if I was in his place right now, I’d say, play me until you kill me. Because there’s only one guy that’s doing it right now, and that’s Alcaraz!”

This comment overtly shows how much Jimmy admires Novak Djokovic’s dominance in the entire tennis dynasty. He says that if he were as good as Nole, he would be out there publicly challenging the opponents to come at him and also adds that the only person who can take up this challenge would be Carlos Alcaraz.

Novak Djokovic has no desire to: “change anything in his life”

The Serbinator has had the tennis center stage for over a decade now for good and bad things and how garnered a myriad of opinions and fans throughout his career. At this stage, the tennis legend has not only developed a level of peak tennis brilliance but also a fine outlook toward himself and the opinions thrown at him.

While acknowledging that he has made a lot of mistakes, he also would not change anything in his life at this point. Indicating that he is satisfied with where he is right now, he assures that he would always choose himself than just go along with the system and the crowd.

After his emotional Wimbledon loss, Nole has withdrawn from the upcoming ATP Masters tournament and was found to be enjoying himself with his family on a cute vacation. However, this defeat did not end his conquest of Grand Slams and he will be back.

Who do you think has the chance of killing Nole’s dominance? When do you think he will back down? Let us know your predictions in the comments below!
