PSG, Kylian Mbappe, and Real Madrid have been involved in the most complicated back-and-forth in football history as far as transfer rumors are concerned. The Frenchman was in the middle of a heated transfer saga with Real Madrid last summer, only for him to make a U-turn and sign a two-year contract extension with PSG.
Things took a different turn this summer as Real Madrid lost Karim Benzema and needed to make a statement signing to replace him. The Spanish giants went back for Mbappe, turning the Frenchman’s head, leading him to exile from PSG for a while.
PSG’s Kylian Mbappe valuation puts pressure on Real Madrid
Two things are certain in this summer’s transfer sage: Kylian Mbappe wants a move to Real Madrid, and PSG will not lose him for free. Both parties have been through a rough patch, with their relationship initially hitting rock bottom before a strange turnaround got the Frenchman back into the team. Kylian Mbappe rejected all the contract offers by PSG, hinting at a possible departure to Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer when his contract expires.
This prompted PSG to relegate the Frenchman to the second team in their bid to pass a message to him that no player was bigger than the club. Mbappe, as you would expect, happily accepted the development and trained with the club’s B team. However, after not being selected for the team’s first game of the season, a club statement announced the next day that Mbappe would be reinstated into the team after a positive round of talks with the club management.
PSG have now reportedly slammed a $272 million price tag on their star man, putting Real Madrid in a difficult position to negotiate a deal as the transfer window is almost due to close. According to Managing Madrid, PSG are confident of keeping Mbappe beyond this season and may get him to sign a new contract to tie him down to the French capital longer than 2024.
Madrid’s Mbappe pursuit intensifies as key condition emerges
The Spanish giants have not given up on their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe and may make a move to sign the Frenchman this summer if PSG are willing to negotiate. According to Apex Football, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is willing to table a bid for the French forward before the transfer window closes if PSG are ready to negotiate a deal.
PSG already slammed a $272 million price tag on Mbappe, and whether or not Real Madrid are willing to match that valuation remains to be seen. However this plays out, it seems that the race for Mbappe may be more complicated than we all expected.
