Everyone knows Randy Orton for his iconic RKO, whether you’re a wrestling fan or not. He’s a major star in WWE. Orton and Seth Rollins made history at WrestleMania 31 over ten years ago. Orton stunned “The Architect” with an RKO during their bout, turning the tables on Rollins’ trademark Stomp.
Countless WWE fans consider this maneuver to be among the best. Before Friday Night SmackDown on Logan Paul’s podcast, Randy Orton discussed the RKO moment from WrestleMania 31 in 2015 in more detail.
Randy Orton discusses the WrestleMania 31 RKO spot
A very popular move in WWE is the RKO. People love to try it out on each other on social media because it’s so surprising, especially with the “RKO out of nowhere” comments. Randy Orton, who has used the RKO for a long time, told Logan Paul’s “Impaulsive” show how he came up with it.
Due to his past injuries, Orton mentioned that the ace cutter and diamond cutter by John Laurinaitis inspired the creation of the RKO. Orton has executed numerous memorable RKOs, including the ones on Evan Bourne and JD McDonagh at a recent Survivor Series. The RKO on Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 31 particularly stands out.
Orton, in agreement with Logan Paul, considered it one of his favorite RKOs, giving it a high rating. Despite his success, Orton remained humble and credited Rollins, stating that the RKO looked great because of Rollins’ impressive hang time. He even discussed how a slight adjustment in hang time could have affected Rollins’s finish.
Orton wants to surpass Ric Flair
Currently tied with Triple H on 14 world titles, Randy Orton is aiming to overtake Ric Flair and John Cena, who both have 16 titles. Since he is the only one now competing in wrestling, The Viper’s chances of success improve as he returns as a fixture in the arena. Orton still has what it takes to compete with today’s top performers, as seen in his latest bout on RAW against Dominik Mysterio, despite being in the business for twenty years.
Orton won his first World Championship in 2000 when he was just 24 years old. Orton is now in second place with fourteen world titles and stated his goal of surpassing Cena and Flair on Logan Paul’s podcast. The supreme predator is more than capable of handling the situation. Orton assertively stated his desire to surpass Flair, when questioned about his aspirations for the future.
