Amidst the latest series of mass talent releases, WWE superstar Matt Riddle unfortunately found himself next on the chopping board. The Super King of Bros just announced his departure this morning on X, where he thanked his fans for all the memories.
In the wake of the completion of the merger between WWE and Endeavor, a whole slew of WWE’s staff and talents were released from the company on Thursday this week. These post-merger layoffs included numerous talents such as Dolph Ziggler, Shelton Benjamin, Emma, Riddick Moss, and many more wrestlers who were let go.
Matt Riddle announces WWE exit
Following the superstars who were let go from their contracts on Thursday, Matt Riddle announced his departure from WWE this morning. He went on to write a heartfelt post to his fans and people who supported him throughout his career and thanked them for the memories.
“Just wanted to inform everyone that I’m no longer with WWE. Thank you for the memories and opportunities also thank you to all the fans for the support and love you give me every time I go out to the ring. See you all soon”, said Riddle.
Although The King of Bros was never a crowd favorite, people enjoyed his antics during his time with The Apex Predator Randy Orton. The two formed a team called RK-Bro and became quite the hilarious pair. Furthermore, his aerial ability and in-ring skills were great to watch. However, his behavior and attitude outside the ring landed him in a huge deal of trouble.
Matt Riddle’s last segment on Monday Night RAW saw him teaming up with Drew McIntyre as they faced The Viking Raiders. It seems like WWE was building towards a Triple Threat Tag Team match between Riddle & McIntyre, The Viking Raiders, and The New Day.
However, those plans were scrapped when The King of Bros was involved in an altercation with a police officer at JFK Airport, where Riddle accused the officer of sexual assault. Apparently, he was intoxicated during the altercation, which further worsened matters for him. It was probably the last straw for him, as he was pulled from appearing in any further programs after the incident.
Matt Riddle’s WWE career highlights

Over the course of his 5-year career in the company, he won the NXT Tag Team Championship along with Pete Dunne. He also captured the RAW Tag Team Championship with former partner Randy Orton and the United States Championship.
Over the past few years, Riddle has been involved in a lot of controversies, especially in 2020 when he was accused of sexual assault. In addition to that, his real-life rivalry with Seth Rollins and multiple drug suspensions, with the most recent case being in 2022, ultimately led to his firing.
It would be interesting to see where Matt Riddle goes from hereon, with both UFC and WWE not being a viable option. Stay tuned for further updates on the aftermath of the WWE and Endeavor merger, which is sure to bring a lot of changes to the Stamford-based promotion.
